Another question about pictures...

Postby benjpeters » 05 Mar 2013, 03:31

I downloaded Forge on my Macbook Air. It runs really well. I downloaded the LQ Picture Set. I tried to setup a deck, but there were still no images. Any thoughts on why the images would still be missing? Should I just run the downloader again a second time? Did I miss a step?

Thank you in advance.

if you exit out of Forge and restart it, do the pictures appear?

do the picture files actually exist in the res/pics directory? If you try to download the files again, does it say they are all there?

On a Mac: Finder>Applications>Forge>Get Info>Contents>Resources>Java>Res>?

No Pics. Only pics_link and pics_products.

Do both of the Download Picture buttons create a /pics/ folder if there is no /pics/ folder present?

Try creating and placing a folder named "pics" inside of the res folder. Then try downloading the LQ set pics.

Or search your hard drive to see where the downloader put the pics, then create a pics folder where it's supposed to be and move the pics there.

That's what is strange, I can't find them anywhere on my hard drive and my hard drive isn't indicating that it has lost any space, even after two attempts. I've looked and I've looked, but I can't find them. I have now created a "pics" folder and I will try the download a third time.

if that still doesn't work, try checking the forge.log file for anything that seems like an error.

Maybe the website the cards get downloaded from are filtered/firewalled by the OPs Internet Provider.

FYI: It now works. I needed to create a folder in res titled pics. Thank you for your help.

I'm glad you got it working! I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem, but I'm working on some changes that will move Forge data (including the pics) to be under the $HOME/Library directory (on OSX), so this type of problem won't happen in the future.

Just so you know, I also installed Forge on my work PC yesterday (don't tell anyone) and I had the same problem. No images appeared until I created the pics folder.

That is weird. I thought there was an empty pics folder when you get Forge. It always has been for me.
