defender == can't attack ?
by frwololo » 16 Feb 2009, 12:45
The question is in the title.
are an ability that says "target creature can't attack this turn" and an ability that says "target creature gets defender until the end of the turn" equivalent ?
I know the answer is no (although a user on my forums used this convenience to code Moat), but do you have examples of cards for which this doesn't work ?

good example: Humility
when "target creature can't attack this turn" resolves on a creature, it can't attack, no matter what but if it just gained defender until end of turn, the defender ability may be removed, or all of its abilities may be removed and since it has no longer defender, it can attack again.

Don't forget Animate Wall, which basically lets a creature ignore the effects of defender.
