What is the buy and sell field used for?

Is there an underlying feature that uses the data in the buy and sell fields of the inventory database?

I thought those fields would allow me to enter a number to represent how many of a particular card that I want to buy or sell, however when I add a number like 2 it comes out as 2.00 so it's got to be for a price, but how is this used in the program?

And is there a way to make it so that it eliminates the .xx so that it just adds the number that I add in so when I add in 1 it shows as 1 so that I know that I am looking to buy 1 of that particular card (yeah I could ignore the .00 at the end of the 1.00 but it's just a bit annoying because it keeps making me think there is some underlying function or feature that I've not yet discovered in the program and makes me go batty looking for it.
