It's kinda cute how the HQCG readme doesn't really say anything to anyone who doesn't already know everything.
Like, what the app really does, for one thing.
Where to put the images for it to use, where to get them, acceptable formats and naming conventions, etc., for others.
The MTG "tinkerers' community" is easily the most opaque I've ever seen this side of coders.

What it does is: Nate's High Quality Card Generator makes the highest quality proxies of any utility available, paid or free.

Considering these are utilities that are frequently used to violate Wizard's copyrights, I think it's fine that it isn't terribly accessible.
That said, I found the existing documentation entirely adequate. If you want easy proxies just download scans or use crappy low res ones from gatherer/magiccards(dot)info
