is the update server down?

I just tried to update Magic Album and I get a message on updater.exe that says, "can't connect to server".

Server is ok. Just checked it. Are you behind the proxy?

I don't think I'm behind a proxy. I just reinstalled windows 7. Is there something in windows firewall I have to configure?

I can't think of anything else that would be blocking it. Can you tell me the IP of the update server and I can try to ping it?

Try to ping "ma.slightlymagic.net"

The ping was successful. I'm not sure what could be blocking it. I don't have any other firewall installed. My wife's computer, which is on the same local network, is able to update MA with no problems.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I noticed that if I right click on updater.exe and go to properties, under the security section it says "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." I clicked the "unblock" button, but every time I click apply, close the properties window, and re-open it, it says the same thing. Could this be causing the problem?

Figured it out! For some reason, my user account didn't have write access to the folder I was trying to install to in "c:\program files(x86)\Magic Album". I gave my account write permission and it worked!
