merge inventory files

Postby raphael75 » 24 Jul 2009, 20:08

Is there any possible way to merge several Inventory files into a single file and preserve the values in the QTY (Quantity) field?

In researching this, I learned that the MWS databases (Deck, Inventory, and master files) are actually .cds format (Delphi TClientDataset) files but just have their extension renamed to be .mwdeck, etc. instead of .cds.

I've searched for hours to find a program that can open .cds files (something like Excel or Access for .cds), but the few I found couldn't do anything with the data other than look at it. I thought xbaseviewpro might work, but it was nothing like Excel where you could select a range of values and paste them into another .cds file. At best you could only select 1 row at a time, and it can't export to .cds, only .cds XML which I'm assuming is something different that MWS wouldn't be able to read.

I just can't understand why MWS doesn't copy the Quantity field so you can merge inventory files together and preserve the QTY field values. Feeling very frustrated.

Thanks.

Try the attached file. It can export inventory/library files to MS Access and vice versa.
