More Custom Base Editing Info

Updating the MTG Masterbase:

Maitai's secret instructions on what to do when a new set comes out.

Last Updated 24th April 2007.


The software You will need is;
1. Microsoft Excel
2. Nates Deck Builder
3. Magic Workstation

Updating cards.csv in Nate's DeckBuilder

Step 1: Gatherer> Text Spoiler >Search Gatherer>>Export to Microsoft Excel
Step 2: File>Save/As>> Future Sight
Step 3: Rename Sheet 1 tab of Future Sight to Text Spoiler
Step 4: Select Sheet 2 tab and rename to cards
Step 5: Gatherer> Text Checklist >>Export to Microsoft Excel
Step 6: Rename Sheet 1 tab of Book1 to Text Checklist
Step 7: Select the entire row 1, right mouse and delete
Step 8: Goto Future Sight tab Text Spoiler
Step 9: In column B select rows 1 to 5, we don't need Set/Rarity from Text Spoiler.
Step 10: Copy
Step 11: Select cards tab, then column A row 1, right mouse>paste special>transpose>OK
Step 12: repeat for every card, dropping a row every time.
Step 13: Save
Step 14: Goto Sheet3 of Future Sight and select Column A,Row 1
Step 15: Type: FUT > click on a different cell
Step 16: On the bottom right corner of cell A1, left mouse and drag straight down until FUT fills 180 rows.
Step 17: Select A column, right mouse and copy.
Step 18: Select cards tab > column B> right mouse> insert copied cells
Step 19: Save
Step 20: Select Book1> Text Checklist tab> Column B
Step 21: Edit> double arrow down> Replace
Step 22: Find What: White >Replace with: W >Replace All> OK
Step 23: Find What: Red >Replace with: R >Replace All> OK
Step 24: Find What: Black >Replace with: B >Replace All> OK
Step 25: Find What: Blue >Replace with: U >Replace All> OK
Step 26: Find What: Green >Replace with: G >Replace All> OK
Step 27: Find What: Multicolor >Replace with: Gld >Replace All> OK
Step 28: Find What: Land >Replace with: Lnd >Replace All> OK
Step 29: Find What: Artifact >Replace with: Art >Replace All> OK
Step 30: Close
Step 31: Select Column B of Book1, Text Checklist> right mouse and copy
Step 32: Select Planar Chaos, cards tab, Column C, Insert, Paste, OK
Step 33: save
Step 34: In Planar Chaos, cards tab, Select column E, right mouse and cut
Step 35: In Planar Chaos, cards tab, Select column D, right mouse and insert cut cells.
Step 36: In Planar Chaos, cards tab, Select column F, right mouse and cut
Step 37: In Planar Chaos, cards tab, Select column E, right mouse and insert cut cells.
Step 38: In Planar Chaos, cards tab, Select column F, right mouse and insert
Step 39: Select Book1, Text Checklist tab, Column C, right mouse, and copy
Step 40: Select Planar Chaos, cards tab, column G, right mouse >insert, right mouse >paste, OK
Step 41: Select Planar Chaos, cards tab, column H, Edit> Replace
Step 42: Find What: X >Replace with: {X} >Replace All> OK
Step 43: Find What: 1 >Replace with: {1} >Replace All> OK
Step 44: Find What: 2 >Replace with: {2} >Replace All> OK
Step 45: Find What: 3 >Replace with: {3} >Replace All> OK
Step 46: Find What: 4 >Replace with: {4} >Replace All> OK

Step 64: Select left most cell, right mouse and paste, then save cards.csv

You think I'm too slack! You want to create your own GameRulings.chm but don't know how. How about I let you in on the trick.
1. Download PowerChm
2. Download Instructions
3. Download my version of GameRulings.chm
4. I always use D'Angelo's latest Rulings Summaries, and download the Zip of HTML
5. Open up the rules-general.html, then View>Source. Edit away, then save.
6. Recompile using Instructions.
7. Copy GameRulings.chm to data folder of magic workstation.
