iphone:Why Wi Fi?

I don’t like Wi Fi. I don’t like its security protocols or the lack of security they provide. But apparently, the only way I can update the iOS on my new iPhone is to join a network. This is a new monthly expense I did not expect.

I have sufficient bandwidth on my cellular connection to download a few hundred MB. I don’t care how long it takes. Why do I have to use WiFi?

Thanks for any clue.

I'm sorry I forgot to tell you that I've tried using a beta version of WhatsApp on Mac.

You are aware of web <dot> whatsapp <dot> com, right? If you need Whatsapp as a standalone app, maybe you can use it with some wrapper around the browser.

The inability to update iOS via cellular data is annoying. Wi-Fi has several advantages, but forcing users to utilize it for updates can be difficult and expensive for people with restricted access or security concerns.
