LordOfExtinction.

Postby Arcanis222 » 29 May 2009, 09:45

I saw the newly implemented card Lord Of Extinction, And thought How can i abuse is? I First thought about cards that dumped cards into the graveyard,
I first thought about milling and realised we don't have any mill yet, then i saw wheel of fortune. i mean, this deck and possibly make a 13/13 on turn 5? That's pretty crazy, And that's without any help from werebear, or llanowar dead. The backup Threats in this deck are Tarmogoyf, Which also gets pretty huge because of the graveyard filling, Zombify, Incase i need to bring anything back, and werebear which grows pretty big it's self. Enjoy.

No milling? Try Sensation Gorger!
See my Dark Pleasure deck here: http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1178
That mills pretty good and with Megrim kills quickly too!

I will try your deck and see how that works, looks interesting anyway.

Sensation gorger isn't really milling. It's just a weaker wheel of fortune which im already using.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway, But Megrim? I could but, i don't really know what i'd take out. the deck is pretty synergistic as it is. when you wheel after playing a Lord of extinction, It's so great. Plus Zombify really works on the cards your discarding from the wheel.

I did not mean you should modify the deck with the gorger or megrim, I just pointed out that I use them in the deck I link to and that they work really well together.

I played a few games now and your deck works nicely.
Too bad Werebear does not have the "tap: add G" ability added, probably an oversight and easily fixed by adding it manually as I already did.
The extra mana it gives can really help.

Ahh sorry i misunderstood.
Really? Lol, I didn't actaully notice, To be honest i think i was just using it for threshold. And thanks i figured if i just mushed together lord of extinction, And card discarding cards (Wheel of Fortune) It'll work. And it did so im happy. I was thinking of posting my Niv-Mizzet Concoction. It's Pretty good once you get him out, The amount of damage he deals is insane. (Wheel Of Fortune, Whirlpool Warrior)

Ah yes, forgot to add the mana ability to Werebear (was too busy fixing its Threshold ability). For now, you can just fix it by editing your local cards.txt, and adding "tap: add G" after its 1/1.

By the way, does Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind actually work correctly with Wheel of Fortune in MTGForge? I kind of hacked Niv-Mizzet in, wasn't sure if it would work if multiple cards in one go are drawn.

I had a fun UR deck in QuestMode a couple updates ago that could do funny tricks with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, Whirlpool Rider, Ancestral Recall and Brainstorm... So I suppose it does work with Wheel of Fortune. Unless something changed in that regard in the latest versions, but I don't think so.

Pretty fun deck. I remember that Guiltfeeder was a powerhouse back in my days of kitchen table Magic, and Lord of Extinction is like Guiltfeeder on steroids. Wheel of Fortune really makes the whole thing unfair.

This deck looks fun. I love using wacky decks. (I'm glad that I coded the import and export functions, creating a new deck from a deck list is boring.)

Yeah it does.. If you use wheel of fortune, with niz-mizzet in play, You get 7 full points of damage, one of my favorite plays, when you play that and then draw into whirlpool Dude.
