RW-Artillery deck

Postby Mr.Chaos » 22 Oct 2009, 19:02

2 versions of a deck, the original was designed by Apthaven and posted in the bugs section.
Not the most logical place so I repost it here, along with my slight ajustment, resulting in V2 of the deck.

The original version:
60 Total Cards

12 Creatures
-------------
4x Goblin Artillery
2x Orcish Artillery
2x Orcish Cannoneers
4x Sparksmith

30 Spells
----------
2x Convalescence
2x Convalescent Care
4x Enlightened Tutor
2x Festival of Trokin
4x Lightning Helix
4x Loxodon Warhammer
4x Moat
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mox Ruby
2x Renewed Faith
4x Swords to Plowshares

18 Land
--------
5x Mountain
5x Plains
4x Plateau
4x Sacred Foundry

And my modified version:
60 Total Cards

12 Creatures
-------------
4x Goblin Artillery
4x Sparksmith
4x Stuffy Doll

30 Spells
----------
2x Convalescence
2x Convalescent Care
4x Enlightened Tutor
2x Festival of Trokin
4x Lightning Helix
4x Loxodon Warhammer
4x Moat
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mox Ruby
2x Renewed Faith
4x Swords to Plowshares

18 Land
--------
5x Mountain
5x Plains
4x Plateau
4x Sacred Foundry

Small change, big effect. I removed the 4 orc cards since they are no goblins and replaced them with 4 stuffy Doll so you can Warhammer your Sparksmith and then target the doll to deal lots of damage to your opponent. (Works really nice with Moat in play)
Also, the doll is a great blocker! Trample damage can be a problem, but then again, the original deck fairs no better there.
Either Moat the field or drop a doll or 2 to stop attackers, shoot flyers down with your goblins if they hurt you too much.
(2 Stuffy Doll take out a trampler very nicely, thank you. )

Nice deck :) I'll fix the Lifelink / Goblin Artillery interaction... should be even more effective then.

Thanks for featuring my deck alongside your version 2.

I didn't plan to release this deck until Lifelink and Goblin Artillery and the similar cards were fixed. But anyway seeing that this deck is playable, I think it's a great idea that you did post it.

Loxodon Warhammer is rather expensive as means of lifegain. Later on I'd scrap the hammer since the +3 boost to power and trample isn't really maximized. In some situations Spirit Link and Lifelink is better and faster.

Stuffy Doll is always good, as you can always blast it with your Sparksmith if you're up to it. Or

Protection from Red also hurts this deck badly, luckily there is this card called Swords to Plowshares. Sometimes I prefer Path to Exile though.

Protection from red can be a problem but then again, neither Moat nor Stuffy Doll are red.
And you did "release" the deck, sort of, when you posted it in the bugs section. I grabbed it and made a change to it.
When it came to me wanting to upload my version, it only seemed fair to post your original version as well.
Credit where credit is due after all.
Otherwise, seeing just my V2 of the deck, they could think I made the original as well. And I do not take credit for other people's work.
Anyway, it is a fun deck, no matter which version you play.
