Custom Cubes

Postby slyphidine » 12 Aug 2011, 17:47

[Old Thread Title - James' Common/Uncommon Cube]

My friend James has built (in real life) a killer uncommon/common cube. I spent a little time bringing it into Forge as a custom cube. Not everything is in Forge (yet), but most of it is. It's a change of pace from Juzamjedi's awesome cube.

Here's the card list if you're interested: http://mtgphilly.forumotion.com/t104-james-s-no-rare-cube

Thank you all for continuing to keep me from getting work done!

Add intrinsic.draft to the draft folder, and intrinsic.dck to the decks folder. It should then come up in the custom draft list.

Custom Cubes

Postby Rob Cashwalker » 12 Aug 2011, 18:01

Opening this thread for folks to post custom cubes. "Official" inclusion is always plausible.

Beginning with slyphidine's Papuer Cube. That's a fine looking cube....

For what it's worth, here is "Microprose MtG/SoTA/DoTP" cube. Or as close an approximation as is possible with the cards currently implemented.
It is intended to emulate the same card selection as you got with the original Microprose adaptation (with the official add-ons).

Amusing cube in a feature article on wizards.com today, The Unpopular Cube.

Only 4 cards aren't forged yet, Aven Soulgazer, Flaming Gambit, Gluetius Maximus, and Warping Wurm.

Re: Custom Cubes

I've made my own cube, called 3KCube

What's in it? In short, it's 3000 cards I'd like to play with.
The long version: I chose about every card I would feel good about drafting. Restrictions were that they should not be parasitical (no tribal, arcane, gold, artifact, or other themes that were block specific), unless the card would be good enough by itself. No broken cards (Sol Ring, Wheel of Fortune and Power Nine). Finally, no color-hosers (but cards that were good enough with anti-color attributes, or had multiple anti-color attributes, I left in). It ended up being about 3000 cards, so I trimmed away a bit and named it 3K.

Why the effort? I love Skiera and JuzamJedi cube, but after hundreds of times playing with them, I felt like playing with some new cards. The 'total cardpool' option on the other hand, has a lot of stuff I don't like having to choose.

Enjoy!

I'm a little confused on how to create a custom cube. I put my cube into a deck list and then moved the deck list into the cube folder but it doesn't show up when I chose a custom draft option. What am I missing?

I've created my custom cube list in the deck editor and tried to import it as a draftable cube but i can't seem to get it to work correctly.

What I've done:
1. Created the deck list and added it to <forge install dir>\res\cube
2. Created "cube_ModernMasters.draft" in <forge install dir>\res\draft
3. The following code is the contents of the draft file
Code: Select all
Name:ModernMastersCube
DeckFile:ModernMastersCube
LandSetCode:ZEN

Booster: 15 Any
NumPacks:3
Unfortunately though, whenever I try to draft it, all I get is a whole bunch of random cards, none of which are actually from my cube.
Is it a problem that it's not a singleton cube?
And how do I get it to work?

@ezmariel, make sure that all of the names are exactly the same, and I mean ALL of them.

Definitely not my area of expertise so its guesswork here, but there's two potential problems I see. Firstly, have you tried using the line "Singleton:False" rather than just omitting it?
Secondly, perhaps the problem is that the deck name is "Modern Masters Cube" with spaces, where the DeckFile is looking for it without spaces. I don't know whether looks for the file name or deck name (every example I looked at has matching file and deck name), but its something else to try if nobody answers with something definitive.

(Edit: I see JuzamJediCube omits the line, so the second point is probably the issue.)

I will try this cube tonight but it is the holiday cube found here:http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/other/11252013/holidaycube#cardlist
Mine is giving me a bunch of odd cards too. Do I have to have the set version?
Edit:
Now fully functioning.

the 3k cube is awesome. could do with some artifact mana fixing or more non basics.

i don't have time or money for paper magic, so this cube is pretty much the extent of my magic now.
