AI Exalted Walkers deck

Postby Chris H. » 28 Feb 2009, 18:20

This deck combines exalted creatures with non-blockable creatures. The computer can sometimes handle this concept but a human will always be in a stronger position to manage this type of theme deck.

The exalted creatures are fairly small and tend not to attack when facing bigger blockers. The computer AI is aware of the fact that certain creatures are non-blockable and will attack with these types of creatures. Combined with exalted these types of attacks can quickly scale up to impressive levels.

One time the computer attacked with an 8/8 Wild Ox with Swampwalk and Indestructible. To keep this interesting I added in Retribution of the Meek and Needle Storm.

I have found that it can be a challenge to wear down the computer and be just a turn or two from winning just to have the computer cast an Invincible Hymn.

This deck has been created for the computer's AI to use against a human opponent. This deck only contains basic lands. Several additional sources of non land based mana have been added.

Enjoy

Nice, I should probably put something in the code that if there's a bunch of exalted creatures in play, the AI should only attack with one creature.

Good one Chris... your deck concepts are getting interesting. I think Id do away with some of the one ofs and try a more concentrated theme. Ill see what I can come up with and post it here.

And if one of those creatures has an ability that makes it non-blockable, that is the one that should attack. It does not always work that way with this deck, but when it does, it is sweet.

Once Dennis gets the multiple mana system working, The Noble Hierarch can be increased to 3 or 4 in this deck. I find that the Noble Hierarch is a great choice for the human player version of this deck.

The one ofs at this time just helps to showcase the hard work coming from Dennis. We appreciate his efforts.

I have gotten so used to the new column sizes in the Deck Editor that I do not want to go back. :D

My take on this idea. I got rid of the 1 ofs...which while giving the deck a kind of massive feel do not really help as much and also it is better for creatures to be completely unblockable. I almost include Finkle's Infiltrator but figured splashing black would be just over the top.

60 Total Cards

28 Creatures
-------------
2x Arcanis the Omnipotent
4x Aven Squire
2x Battlegrace Angel
3x Covert Operative
4x Guardians of Akrasa
3x Metathran Soldier
4x Outrider of Jhess
3x Phantom Warrior
2x Plasma Elemental
1x Tidal Kraken

12 Spells
----------
1x Ancestral Recall
2x Armageddon
4x Darksteel Ingot
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mox Sapphire
3x Wrath of God

20 Land
--------
11x Island
9x Plains

This seems to work as advertised though as Chris points out the exalted does not always kick in because the AI attacks with more than one creature...this doesn't stop the deck from being deadly as sin.

Dennis is working on the multi-mana system to get it to work correctly, will see the results next version. It appears that only the first keyword is being used.

Darksteel Ingot
3
Artifact
("Destroy" effects and lethal damage don't destroy it.)
Indestructible
tap: add B
tap: add G
tap: add R
tap: add U
tap: add W

If you move the Indestructible keyword down to the bottom the Darksteel Ingot would then be able to generate a B mana. There is a similar problem with the computer using the:

Birds of Paradise
G
Creature Bird
no text
0/1
Flying
tap: add W
tap: add B
tap: add U
tap: add R
tap: add G

Otherwise your deck looks like a lot of fun. I plan to try it out.

Human Version:

This deck is a lot of fun for the human to play, as such this is a slightly modified version for humans. The 4x Darksteel Ingot were kept and some of the basic lands were replaced with dual lands.

While play testing the human version I was able to summon the Tidal Kraken and used the Arcanis the Omnipotent to draw three cards. I drew Battlegrace Angel and my Tidal Kraken attacked the next turn - as a 10/10 Unblockable + Lifelink. Sweet!

Enjoy

This is Gando's take on the Exalted Walkers idea. This deck has been created for the computer's AI to use against a human opponent. This deck only contains basic lands. Several additional sources of non land based mana have been added.

The original 4x Darksteel Ingot in this deck have been replaced with 2x Marble Diamond and 2x Sky Diamond.

I think replacing the ingots is a fairly big mistake. They are indestructable for a reason. Anyway I was curious why you bothered posting two additional versions :)

You posted a card listing but no deck file for people to download. I sometimes forget to do this myself. #-o

I think I exchanged the ingots only in the AI version. They can go back in once Dennis releases the next version.

The human human version still has them, but I could be mistaken. :?:

I'm now working on a human deck for my version, I like the Noble Hierarch. I also like the Battlegrace Angel, but Ineed to replace the Needle Storm and the Retribution of the Meek. I might put in some creature fetch. I'm still undecided.
