Re: World Deck Development thread

Postby hurloon » 31 Mar 2015, 13:04

Hi guys, from an input from Fizanko, I post here my custom world: the decks are taken from viewtopic.php?f=48&t=16820 and viewtopic.php?f=48&t=16789

Hi guys, I have taken the liberty of made a custom world with the Ai playable deck from the abovementioned topics, it's in the attached file.
Extract it to your /res/quest/world folder.
Rename it as you like, now it's named Mad World (It's a very very)

Now, still a lot of work it's required, take it only as a little fun mod. I've not really test it (only 2 or 3 games with my running quest) and it worked. Trait it as a good add to the stock Forge quest mode.
All the decks are tagged as hard difficult, no icon, no description and no fun character name (all decks are named after their file name which, in most case, is self explanatory).

As long as we are talking about custom worlds...
Here is what I load every time that load a new snapshot.
I copy over all the folders in the world directory to the location
\forge-gui-desktop-1.X.XX-SNAPSHOT-rXXXXX\res\quest\world
I do not overwrite folders.
Then I put the worlds.txt file in that location overwriting the existing file.
It includes a lot of the custom worlds listed in this thread and some extras like SUPER which is a bunch of decks from the different worlds loaded into one world.

DRAFT is a new world that I created that has a bunch of draft decks from the recent pro tour and other random decks like dual decks. This is a good world to play your fun premade decks against.

Here is the deck that I load in quest mode to play with:

I was considering making my favorite standard environments as worlds and using the top decks of that standard as the enemies and as the basis for challenge decks. Has anyone else done this before and if not, what standard environments would people like? I'm going to start with Scars of Mirrodin block and Innistrad block as I have fond memories of it and is why I got this idea in the first place.

Edit: I grabbed some of the top decks from throughout scars and Innistrad and have created a world around this with one challenge thus far. Next step will be removing cards the AI can't use well like Ponder in delver style decks etc.

I don't know the others but I'd like a Masques and Invasions or old stuff like that. Most worlds are modern which is good and all but there's not enough love for older worlds I find.

Sorry about the lack of a post of ISD and scars block, I'll probs have something soon! Uni exams and such. I can get onto Masques standard, but it might take time to find decks that the AI can use from that era, let alone decks at all! I'll get back to this thread soon : )

Here's my first attempt at Scars block and Innistrad block standard. Let me know if there's something I missed. I'm sad that the AI can't use Birthing Pod to its fullest so I had to leave out one of the most iconic decks of the time in favor of some tribal stuff from Innistrad. I would like to expand the challenges to have more variety than just one but here it is for the time being. : )

It takes some maintenance work to keep updating it, but it may be doable:
All easy/medium decks are precon-decks, we only need to replace the cards that are not playable by the AI.
All hard decks are official tournament decks. The thing I noticed is that all current top standard decks hardly have cards the AI can't play.
Hence this world idea.
This looks like an amazing idea though I don't know much about the current state of standard.

This is pretty amazing! I might give it a try after my current ravnica run and after exams have finished. Are all the decks tournament decks or how is the composition?

Thanks for the praise! Please do try it out later!

The early stage decks are all from the intro packs as they provide themes without being overly difficult to defeat if you decided to generate a deck in the scars x innistrad world. The decks at hard and very hard are all tournament lists modified for the AI so you'll see human aggro variants, 'Big Red', Delver decks and tribal decks from innistrad.

I suspect that most people that are interested in this are interested in a world with current standard. That means regular updates due to new sets, deck development and metagame changes. Anybody up for the challenge?

Maybe with Battle for Zendikar and its expansion Oath of the Gatewatch that should be there in a couple of months, the amount of AI opponents could be increased for the Zendikar world, as BFZ use the same system than in the previous Zendikar set (mana spam with eldrazi, ally system, etc...) it should fit very well with the Zendikar world decks.

A bit like Ravnica that mix both Ravnica blocks
probably outdated by now so you should avoid : Innistrad world for Forge (updated 17/11/2014)
Duel Decks for Forge - Forge custom decks (updated 25/10/2014)

Updated Scars x Innistrad standard to include two more challenge decks. After this I'm going to start on Innistrad x Ravnica and work my way forward until the present standard, then work backwards if I can be bothered!

Yep. I chose the Zendikar block because i wanted te create a world which would take less work for a change....next moment wizards decides to revisit this world... :D
Anybody who wants to contribute is more than welcome to do so. I currently have far less time at hand. It is also cool to make decks for these blocks that belong together as strangely enough it hardly happens on a competitive level.
NB, Ravnica world decks have also never been updated with Dragon Maze cards.

Is anyone still working on new worlds? I have a world combining CHK + BOK + SOK almost complete with 36 decks. Just need to implement my ideas for two more challenges and remove some cards the AI is bad with.

What ever happened to the Theros world from a few pages back? That sounded cool.
