Collectible Card Game Headquarters

Many years ago when rebels first came to light during the Masquerade block I was enamoured with the idea of a toolkit deck that depended on the rebel search chain. In particularly Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero was the star of that deck as she was undercosted for her ability. Years later, I no longer am a MTG Columnist and I no longer play the game in normal circles. (lol). Neutral Ground my home club isn't even open anymore. Instead we have MTG Forge and its somewhat limited AI and quirky rules enforcement. It's still better than not playing at all. by A long shot. (Thank you MTG Rares!)

Anyway without further adieu here is the first version of the latest varient of my favorite deck archtype:
(Bear in mind it is not easy to play and give the AI a fast deck it doesn't win easily.)

This will definitely need to be fine tuned alot...for starters I discovered how important those riftwatchers are...4x is definitely a must. Solemn Simulacrum was quite good too. Sadly the rebels can not be surprise fetched to respond with a block but they can be used to bring creatures in fast and with the right manipulation/massaging the chain should be able to fetch any creature card in the deck. The tutors are invaluable not just for the taxes and conspiracy but also to fetch early moxen and midgame Simulacrums when you just need another draw/land/chumpblocker,etc. Rafiq is uber in this deck as a 1 of so he definitely should stay...and Yore=tiller works well as long as it doesn't go to the graveyard itself. Sadly Conspiracy isn't 100% so rebels that go to the graveyard after it hits the table become nonrebels (Disloyal bastards! how dare they leave the conspiracy without just cause?!)

Well I don't play may Magic games in real life, I've only played 3, ha. I love Magic cards but the cost scares me. Right now it is cheaper for me to code cards than to buy them. In the past I have played Magic Online for around 1 year but I think I still have more fun with MTG Forge. Magic is fun and I'm glad my program, MTG Forge is fun.

This deck looks awesome. I will definitely patch up Conspiracy, and have a shot at implementing Lin Sivvi. She should be possible actually, I'll just have a dialog pop up asking for the value of X, then set the manacost of X to the ability before it gets put on the stack... I *think* this will work.

I completely agree about the cost of cards. I remember dumping all my spare cash into buying cards when I was in high school. Now I can't imagine having $3-$5 to spend on a few cards that need others to be usable. I wanted to try to restock some cards so I bought a bunch off of CraigsList and for $30, got a bunch of commons and a ton of lands.

Oh well.

Another thing I like about this deck is the "situational fetches" of cards like Magus of the Moat, Mystic Snake, Intrepid Hero... I would probably even add in an Uktabi Orangutan (Viridian Shaman) for some artifact removal, if needed.

Yeah in the original variants I did use cards like Uktabi Orangutan and Avalanche Riders to name a few...If I find one of the deck lists Ill post it here for our amusement.

here is the article I seem to have archived...the others? I dunno. Back when neutralground.net was still active and used as a gathering spot for internet writers (mainly people who once wrote for dojo.com at first and then people like me.) the Webmaster created a great xml based application called Autodeck. It was no frills in terms of css/looks but it had power and function. What was really great is you could set up a deck in Autodeck and then reference it via a url. (this was circa 1998-2002 I believe) Sadly nowadays that application is gone (perhaps lost even?).
