OPT somewhat back in development, ISD support for now
by Jorbes » 21 Jan 2012, 20:22
(new version @ www.onlineplaytable.com , will try to keep my filehost online)
So, tell us jorbes, where in the world have you been since your last visit?
Short story: Needed to pay lots of bill badly, needed to focus on things that generate income + technical difficulties.
Long story: It's a bit (read: very) private, so I won't go into things too deep, but for a while, I did not have the capability to work on OPT at all.
Not only caused by a major setback due to losing freshly coded work for a new theming system when my source code hard drive went "kaboem" before I managed to create a backup (yeah, own fault, lost 3 weekends of hobby time work though, kinda took me down hard). That hard drive kaboem was caused by my PSU exploding or at least, that is all I could call it, fried the whole system, from mainboard up. To this day I have no idea what the cause was, but since then, I have all my delicate hardware behind a UPS.
Also, the past few months my internet had been dropping frequently, causing a serious headache as my ISP had no idea what the cause was. After getting some tech guys install a temp firewall machine, they told me I was being DDOS'ed quite often. But that seems to be over now (I guess my recent ex gf has a script kiddy causin)
So, I think most things are taken care of, got some nice new hardware and a new 27" screen coming my way soon, so I have a nice clear view to write some new code
Will be reading up on the forums, to see what needs to be done.

Thanks Jorbes, it's good to hear from you and I'm glad you got some motivation back to code.
I'm looking at a 27" screen but I'd like a 32" better. The benefit of the 32" is it would be an HDTV with a tuner as well.

Let me echo my friend Huggy's sentiments as I too say welcome back stranger!
I knew something had to be wrong and i'm just glad that you are ok.
A lot of folks here have become mighty attached to your great app, my wife & I included, so I'm extremely happy that you are back & intend on making OPT even better.
We'll all be here waiting to continue to test the software & have fun playing with it!

'Twas nothing left for us to save
In the peat-filled bogs of Cannelbrae.

Thx for the welcome back guys.
Huggy, I thought of getting a "normal" tv for the pc, to connect with HDMI, but I need more resolution than full hd.
There is a samsung 27" with PLS panel that can do 2560x1440, which is what I need. Also saw some DELL U2711 reviews, same resolution, but people complain about the AntiGlare coating, making it useless for "text-worker" activities like programming.

I certainly hope it isn't, this one had the most promise to replace buggy MWSplay for good.
