yes, candescent warrior appears to be a pretty badass piece... ferocity is an insane ability, as is rampage.

Excellent news on the AI front. I'm still batting 1.000 in over 30 games with warbands of various types. looking to workout my dual quadcore home machine soon :)

as soon as I get another game with the trample issue, I'll be sure to save/post the log.

Hehe, I should probably temper my statements about the AI, you'll probably beat that one too. :)

The nice thing about the new one, is that with more iterations (akin to depth for minmax) it won't get to a point where the tree is so large it would take all the time left in the universe to handle them. It also in no way knows about the rules of the game, unlike minmax where I had to write the board evaluation function. The hybrid uses both and does well too.

Dual quad core will be nice. I enjoy seeing all 16 CPUs pegged playing out Dreamblade moves. :)
Don't forget you can still use all those cores w/ the current AI, it speeds things up pretty good.

Once I get the performance bottlenecks out I'll do a release.

You mean 2 CPU's, 8 cores and 16 threads don't you?

If Dreamblade can peg all cores, you should make a benchmark as there still aren't a whole lot of apps that can do that. But what could you call it? Dreammark? Blademark? I can hear power users now, "Hey man, what's your Blademark score?" :lol:

16 threads yep, 1 for each core so 2 die x 8 cores. I should have said CPU usage meters. :)

Hehe, that's a pretty good idea since it is very CPU bound (rather than I/O bound). Sometimes not all 16 are used if there are fewer top level actions for AI to choose. If I could get the threaded AI to play the same game w/ the same random seed somehow I could gauge performance for the game itself.

Issue in this game where the AI had the ability to attack with some insane dice, but instead just choose to attack with its local Cannibal Pariah?!

Also - payback not seeming to add damage correctly after activation?

Hmm, I wonder if it worried about deathblows? It's also possible the node got pruned due to a bad roll somewhere in there. The new AI *should* be much better about that kind of stuff. So far in my testing it has.

I'll check out Payback too.

AI deathblows - in the following game, you'll see that the AI has the opportunity to roll 8dice worth of deathblows but chooses to only roll 2dice (resulting in 21). Either this was by choice (highly highly suspect) to only roll for the stormwatch siren, or because the code didn't reach/recognize the ability to roll the deathblow for the barag. It would be safer for the AI to always take the maximum dbs allowed, as thats probably 99% the correct choices.

Yeah that is a very bad choice for the AI. I'll have to think about how to handle this (and also the case of not declaring all attackers). In my testing of the new AI this doesn't seem to happen as much since there is no evaluation function (which there is for minmax and it doesn't get down into the details of assigning damage).

i'll try to come up with some new warbands that use different/fun/unique pieces to test some of the less played miniatures when i get the time.

Hehe, no rush or pressure, if you get a chance to play and find bugs that's great. Birthing Frog is cool, I'd love to build a warband around a few of him.

birthing frog is mad cool. is awesome in a weenie band or a pure madness band.

unravel (both on the webwing and the golem) doesn't seem to be working 100% correctly. seems like the timing of the defense change is too late for it to take effect for current battles. but if there's a subsequent combat, the engine then checks that the damage is over the defense and asks for disruption.

I'll try and produce a log.

This makes me wish the game was still in production. Serrated Dawn would have been awesome. Here's my birthing frog. I'm a few minis short of the entire SD set (I'll be working on Brood Mother and Dragon Ambassador this coming weekend).

I'll test it out (Unravel). All it does is setup a sustained effect that modifies the defense attribute (and expires @ the end of combat). I'm also hunting down that Payback bug.

Made some *GREAT* progress with optimizing some of the core functions giving all the AI algorithms a nice nice speed boost (hopefully allowing them to search deeper, etc).

Flanking X (and Heroics X) are all fixed. Had an xml layout bug in all pieces using these 2 abilities. Will be in next release.
