Thought some people might be interested in this. It's not exposed through the GUI but it allows for some fun variants!

There is a file called "rules.conf" which is located where the executable is (on the Mac it's inside the .app bundle).

It looks something like this:

As you can see, some very core rules can be tweaked. One thing I like doing is playing with alternate board layouts for scoring and victory points. You can use a "larger" initiative die, discourage destruction (via the bonus spawn), play high power games w/ some initial starting spawn points in addition to those from initiative rolls, toggle tournament initiative, play a quicker game to 3 or 4, etc.
