What do you think of Ohloh?
by Max mtg » 05 Feb 2013, 11:25
There's a page of our project on a website tracking open source products.
http://www.ohloh.net/p/crosis
Is anyone interested in maintaining it, or maybe we should avoid that kind of publicity and external monitoring?

The info displayed on this site is way out of date.
I suggest that we ignore this site. The amount of time that would be spent on maintaining it could be better spent on the Forge project and our wiki.
OH, I attempted to sign in to the Forge wiki yesterday and had no luck.

It is possible to link the actual repository, update project description and links to populate all that graphs with actial values.Chris H. wrote:The info displayed on this site is way out of date.

The question is - should we?

I would vote no.
If someone took on the responsibility of maintaining our project at the Ohloh site would there be any benefits?
Too much publicity can cause problems.

We haven't really before with other sites. I don't see any strong reason why we should with this one. I've never even heard of Ohloh, so who would it be pulling in that can't find us through mtgrares site? Or general word of mouth.Max mtg wrote:It is possible to link the actual repository, update project description and links to populate all that graphs with actial values.Chris H. wrote:The info displayed on this site is way out of date.

Plus there's the fact that if we become too well-known, Wizards might just become obliged to do something about us, which is something that should be avoided as much as possible.

I think we are wellknown enough. The other communities I frequent indicates a fairly well spread knowledge of forge and/or these forums. (I know, I know, not necessarily representative data but hey if /tg/ knows about us we've got quite an audience there alone)
Oh and the ohloh cost estimation for forge really slays me, heh.

Fully agree with what Chris and timmermac wrote above. Flying 'under the radar' is a good idea.
