Gauntlets

Postby Sloth » 19 Mar 2013, 09:39

I haven't tried the Gauntlet mode for some time and i don't know who was the last to work on it, but can anyone tell me how the "Build A Gauntlet" mode should work?

I can save the gauntlet, but i can't play it. There seems to be no option to pick the deck i will play with, or am i missing something?

I also tried Guantlet for the first time in ages yesterday and found that I was assigned a random deck to play with (luckily it was the semi-random artifact deck so I still did well. I also noticed that the match record for each opponent isn't stored correctly (ended up with the results progressing through the opponents 2:0, 3:0, 4:0 etc whereas I'm sure they're meant to be either 2:0, 2:1; not sure). I think it was this that then prevented the opponent's deck from changing after that so I quit the gauntlet.

Anyway, I know Doublestrike added the initial implementation and I don't think anyone else touched it too much since. The "Build a Gauntlet" should let you select a list of decks that will serve as your opponents for the gauntlet.

I did some testing of Gauntlet mode recently, and found it really was a mess. The default LOCKED contests didn't even load! The files were using an old Deck serialization format that didn't deserialize properly. I fixed that problem, but the mode as a whole definitely needs some love.
