New Phyrexia Set Choices

Postby friarsol » 18 Apr 2011, 12:21

When sets have come out in the past there's always this huge rush for everyone to try to do the cards first and there is lots of repeated work. Instead for this set, I'd like to have a more collaborative effort.

As the release becomes closer those that are interested in filling out the set, we should go with a divide and conquer approach. Take a color and work on all those cards. When you are done add them all to the appropriate wiki page, then choose a color that hasn't been chosen yet. DO NOT TRY to add 100 cards at a time.

I've started a Wiki Page http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Forge_New_Phyrexia to try to organize this better as I know there are a few Spoilers out already that are scriptable.

This way we can do all the work beforehand of coding up the cards as they come in, but since our policy is to wait till the cards are up on gatherer before pushing them to the SVN.

Usually the cards hit Gatherer the day before the prerelease, so it shouldn't be a huge strain to copy cards from the wiki to txt files for submission.

Thanks

Good idea Sol.

I will try to concentrate on other areas of the project for the time being. I would like to give other people a chance to take a shot at implementing these cards via script.

Apparently the Godbook for NPH was leaked at some point today, so I bet the whole spoiler list will be online on one of the more credible sites for those of you who are interested in coding up some new cards.

And as I was saying the spoilers are here: http://mtgsalvation.com/new-phyrexia-spoiler.html

There are bunch of interesting cards that won't work right now in Forge, but still plenty of new cards to script. Please please play nice and use the Wiki to claim cards, and take a reasonable amount at a time, not just like "Oh i'm gonna do these 50"

I added a single card in black, Toxic Nim, but the card does not display correctly. The problem may be associated with the Mac end of line chars.

Looks like magiccards.info has everything up already, so feel free to submit NPH cards. Since spoiler season was short this set we won't get to test out this particular experiment.

The cards are also up on Gatherer. I started submitting the first NPH card to the SVN.

Does anyone have a good idea when WotC will activate their pic URLs for NPH?

Everyone is itching for the next beta release, devs and users. I have held off this long since I feel that people will want to be able to download the pics for the 110+ new NPH cards.

I'm a little afraid Wizards changed their pic storage system. When I copy pic links from NPH cards on the mothership, I get something like this: http://gatherer.wizards.com/Handlers/Im ... t&options=

I don't know if this is new though.

I'm waiting for the HQ pics team to put together the real card pics before setting up the LQ set pics. So far, someone had posted MSE renders.

Can you download the pics from magiccards.info? That's where I get my pics from when I can't download them through Forge.

I intended for the set picture link included in the card text would be a backup link, in case cardforge.org failed. I don't want to affect another site's bandwidth needlessly. magiccard.info's NPH pics are the low-res ones Wizards has already posted.
