Suggestion: Add theme decks to cardshop
by Max mtg » 11 Oct 2011, 14:43
It is technically possible to add theme decks to quest mode card shop.
I can implement this quite easily - should take under three hours.
Is this feature worth adding?
If so, do you have any ideas on where to get the decks? and how much items should be present in the shop at once.

I think if it is added the feature should only be unlocked after a large number of wins so that it gives users who have been questing for a while the chance to start a new theme easily if they get bored with their current deck, but doesn't make it too easy to get a great deck too early. I suppose different tier strengths could also be used instead to give the basic building blocks for a new theme and the different tiers could be unlocked at suitable win-counts.

How about the player can purchase the quest AI decks? Whichever level of opponent deck they could face at the current time. Easy decks go for 500-750, Medium Decks go for 1000 to 1500 and Hard decks go for 2000 - 3000.
Semi Random Theme Decks can go for 500 flat?
Someone could still cheat and change their easy AI deck or semi-random list to be all power-nine... any possibility you would want to actually calculate the face value of the cards in the deck? Then apply a variable discount?
Maybe change the starting credits be enough to purchase a basic deck? (cardpool jump-start)

One? In the Card Shop?Max mtg wrote:If so, do you have any ideas on where to get the decks? and how much items should be present in the shop at once.
This is a good approach. Maybe like this:moomarc wrote:I think if it is added the feature should only be unlocked after a large number of wins so that it gives users who have been questing for a while the chance to start a new theme easily if they get bored with their current deck, but doesn't make it too easy to get a great deck too early. 30 wins: Intro Decks (sans booster) and old theme decks
40 wins: Duel Decks (Elves vs Goblins etc.)
50 wins: Event Decks
60 wins: World Championship decks
I wouldn't like the AI decks to be sold, there is too much power and duals in there.Rob Cashwalker wrote:How about the player can purchase the quest AI decks? Player will get them in cardshop, but the cardshop has to get them somewhere too.Sloth wrote:One? In the Card Shop?Max mtg wrote:If so, do you have any ideas on where to get the decks? and how much items should be present in the shop at once.
Ok, I think there should be added a folder with decks for sale in quest mode, metadata would contain price and relative difficulty

Sounds good. With "relative difficulty", do you mean something like power level (defining the number of wins needed to unlock it)?Max mtg wrote:Player will get them in cardshop, but the cardshop has to get them somewhere too.
