You don't have to defend yourself zaroblan, we know that some parts of forge are dated and improvisational. Doublestrike is planning on reworking the in-game UI. Now that your main point of critisism is fixed (autozooming right from the start), can you say what else is bothering you (maybe in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=52&t=5487).

Can you please describe what would be a real good UI to you, or what would need to be changed in Forge or Magarena to make one?

I'm actually working on a interactive UI mockup. But I can't give an estimate of when it will be done, nor if it will be any good. Compared to other UI I've done, this is hard.
User experience, make or break. MtG drafting is fun.

Thanks, I would love to see it when you're done. It's obvious that UI design for MTG is stuck in a deep rut.

Well, how many games have the complexity of Magic? The zones alone make it a GUI nightmare. Personally, I have no problems with Forge, but love to see the improvements that you guys come up with. I pretty much eat whatever's on the plate.

there are more important things to improve on forge then GUI. I think the forge team also desire more improvments in the game mechanics it self instead of the GUI i think the team dont feel its time to improve the GUI yet

One of the nice things about a project like this is that folks can decide to contribute and choose their area and how much time they wish to devote to it. Progress may not be equal in all areas, but when anyone decides to make an area better, I am all in favor of that. Everything will eventually get done, just maybe not on everyone's ideal schedule. Right now we have several devs working in several different areas. There are several ongoing threads in the dev forum regarding ideas/suggestions for improvements.

While Forge is not perfect, it is getting better every day. I salute everyone who is contributing, whether technical, artistic or suggestions. =D>

For inspiration, I think that Octgn has a very nice and streamlined play area.
