It's also of note that all standard legal sets are at least 90% complete.

Our last release had 9855 cards - this looks like coming up on 10,000 which is a milestone indeed. Great work everyone - we're making a product that rivals or beats even commercial stuff!

Not sure what the timeline is, but it might be nice to give the honor of committing the 10,000th card to mtgrares or Rob? Maybe with some ceremonial drums, a goblin parade, and some Icatian Soldier s to celebrate the occasion?

That's 145 cards to 10,000. Which is one complete small expansion. So by the time Dark Ascension is live, we could be damn close to the full 10,000.

I don't do card submissions anymore..

Yep. Actually we're at 9912, I missed a couple of revisions, apparently.

I just had to do a clean load of my cardsfolder directory (due to some bizarre behaviour) and turns out we're up to 9910 cards now EXCLUDING Dark Ascension cards. At the moment we have 26 of the 30 spoiled so far (not counting the reprint) so only 64 to go! =D>

I'm honored but Rob has been working on Forge longer than I have, so I think he should have the privilege. =D>

10,000 cards is a huge, earth-shaking milestone because there are (roughly) only 15,000 cards in existence. 10,000 cards is more cards (and fun) than any one person should have.

"12,246 unique cards have been produced for the game as of October 2011" according to Wikipedia.

What happens when Forge has all of the cards? Talk about a good problem.

As long as Wizards is developing new cards, this will never happen. And that's why i love to work on this game.

Quick update on the milestone:
Deck editor says we have 9945 cards (and yes, I've excluded unfinished cards and the Developer's Little Helper),
My latest count of DKA cards is 39 (and I'm working one one more for today).
So we're only 15 cards shy of the 10k cards mark (assuming we're counting Dark Ascension cards).

Who's going to commit the big one? Rares delegated to Rob. Rob said above that he doesn't do cards submissions anymore. Dennis would appear to be next in line, but he's not active at the moment. So I think Chris might get to do the honors (might get to align it with 5000 forum posts :D )

I like the idea of celebrating the fact that we have reached 10000 cards. Not sure if we should make any single individual the "leader of the parade".

Forge is the result of several dozen people's contributions over the last five years or so. I might be able to put together a list of names for most of these people. Someone would be bound to be left out though. :(

I am kind of thinking about a brief notice as a fluff piece in the changes.txt file as being appropriate. 8)
