Maybe similar cards should be checked to see if they have the same problem. Also Xyx may have been using some other tricks to revive the creature instead of Animate Dead ;)
Yeah, if the issue is with the reanimation part exactly, then yes, other similar cards should be checked for that too... However, at least we now know that Fiend Hunter's triggers themselves do not seem to suffer from the issue. Does anyone know what cards are good candidates for this?

Hmm, do Unburial Rites and similar cards work fine?
Admittedly Animate Dead is a weird card. And that wording, my, sometimes MTG can really sound hysterical... is it possible that the problem affected just the one card?
I would test them myself to help but I don't know how to create the conditions, short of making a deck and try my luck until I see the combo :)

Just tried the entire loop with Unburial Rites and everything worked correctly (at least I went through the process of exiling two creatures that way, and it all went smooth).
