Themes and Quest Mode

Should there be three levels of difficulty for themes? I know that currently quest mode has this and wondered if it makes sense for themes to also be this way. By tinkering with the groups/counts/percentages it should be fairly easy to create easy, moderate and hard versions of each theme.

Then, it would be possible to add themes to the list of quest opponents already in place. For example, your opponent choices could include three of the current decks and a randomly chosen theme of appropriate difficulty.

Good question... I'm not sure, but we will probably make starting life dependent on CMC (and/or rarity of the card?)

While I think it's good flavor to have different starting life totals, I think we need to be careful how high it scales. It's fine to have bosses have a decent amount more life, but we should really set a cap/distribution levels.

In Shandalar on the hardest difficulty the weakest creatures started at 10 life, and the strongest started at 25 or so. The bosses would be at 30. The player started the game at 10 life and could accrue up to 36 life total.

We don't have to follow that life pattern, but I don't think the high life should scale too high. Some decks already have Moxen and Duals, and as the AI and synergies of decks improve having more life will create games that will just be impossible to win, which isn't as fun.

I usually run a 40 card deck in Quest mode and if we're going fluctuate the life too much it could make the games impossible to win for this strategy due to not having enough firepower to deal 50 damage (or whatever).

Yeah, I agree... maybe just have something like 5 + 3*CMC.
