Collectible Card Game Headquarters

Does the Vanguard box display the Vanguard cards you choose so I can actually see what I'm playing? I'm not sure I have the pictures, so if the pictures should be displayed, I wouldn't notice it. Maybe it'd be better to be a CardDetailPanel?

No, it doesn't display anything even if you have the images. I've also wanted the cardDetailPanel there to help with selection, but it's a little too advanced for me to add. One other tiny thing that bothers me a tiny bit is the blue tab box that isn't linked up to the theme's color palette.

Marc, can you take a look at these as they may be better than a few of the pics located at cardforge and you may want to use mine instead:
 

I also created the images on Cardforge from the HQ pics, I just left the slight black trim and used the alternate art for the online avatars using the namesake's image. I also saved mine slightly larger (300x425) seeing as the information tends to be smaller and there's not as many images so size isn't as much of an issue (although I did limit them to arouns 80kb).

So do you want me to replace the images on cardforge for the set download, or do you want them up in a separate folder so that the LQ download can download from cardforge instead of the horrid ones from wizards?

I am trying to add a detail panel but the layoutmanager is fighting me every step of the way.As for the tab panel ignoring the skin, I think I can fix that tonight.

I do not use the set images nor do I download them. I imagine that these are probably OK on cardforge. I use each daily snapshot build to play for fun and to run tests. I do not use the set images in order to simplify the daily updating of my local snapshot copy.

Good point about the horrid ones from wizards though. That must be what I saw yesterday.

That makes sense now. I'll upload the additional LQ Vanguard set and update the picture links sometime before the beta release tomorrow. Should have done that in the first place when I saw the Wizards images I guess.

Any preferences with regards to the UDON avatar pics over the ones using the namesake's art? I personally prefer the traditional art so I already have those images prepped, but that's only 1 vote. If anyone cares, cast your vote before this evening so I have a bit of time to make the changes if necessary.

When I searched my local copy of the CCGH HQ cards I noticed that some of the avatars had two pictures, I guess that you may be referring to this? I seem to remember some of them had "Avatar" and some of them had "Vanguard Avatar" printed on the card. Not sure if it matters.

I will let you decide on which to use.

Yea the layoutmanagers aren't very helpful. I'll try to take a look tonight, but don't think I'll be able to fix it before release.

Please do. MigLayout touts itself as th most flexible manager but I'll be damned if it' s easy to use.

I've prepped and uploaded all the LQ vanguard images for the non-set download. Have to leave for a family dinner now though, so will update the Picture urls in the morning.

On a different topic, I think I know what the first quest challenge can be implementing Vanguard. Simply give the human the Morinfen Avatar and let him/her try kill the AI before killing themselves. That 30 life boost just doesn't cut it. You wouldn't need to give the AI more than a few defensive creatures. For questers playing on the hardest difficulty you could give the AI a Vanguard avatar too, something like Serra. The challenge would have to become available only after the player has boosted their starting life to at least 20.

forge did not download the LQ jpg for these two cards. There may be a problem with the card name not matching the jpg file name or some other issue.

I see that you have added a few more avatars and am not sure if you want some replacement LQ pics for them. But here they are just in case:

Short answer: personal preference.

Long answer: all of my LQ images are taken from the HQ card images, borders cropped, scaled to 200 x 285 pixels and then saved at 100%.

I do not want to do the same thing for all of the set images.

Thanks, but I've already got the full set uploaded (if anyone scripts a vanguard avatar just use the url from one of these others replacing the jpeg with the card's 'clean' name. As for Squee and Eladamri, Lord of Leaves Avatar, Ctrl-clicking the script's picture url in eclipse opens up the picture fine, so I don't know what the problem is. The url and hosted image are definitely there and match.

Well if at any stage you want to move over to the set images I've got a script set up that will convert them all to that preference while I make coffee, and then I can just upload them somewhere for you.

I would like to be able to specify a default Avatar for Vanguard decks in the .dck file.

I post a lot of decks from DailyMTG (I hope everyone knows this by now ), and during a certain period, quite a few Vanguard decks built for specific Avatars were posted in the Online Column of the day (mostly Into the Æther). Being able to specify a default Avatar in the .dck file would save everyone the trouble of referring to a web page to know which Avatar the deck was intended for. I hope the existence of a goodly number of pre-existing Vanguard decks will encourage people to play the new variant, especially those who prefer to play constructed, and this will make life a little bit easier for them.
