Quest mode + Vanguard = MTG Story Mode?
So one thought I've had about quest mode is the lack of back story to any duels or matches and I'm a big sucker for story in my games. Since Vanguard is seeing some great success being implemented as well as alternate worlds in quest mode I was thinking these features could be combined to create a more story-filled quest mode.
Here's how I see it playing out:
You start a new quest which includes selecting a vanguard avatar which affects all matches in the quest (and possibly an option to create a custom avatar, but that's more complicated).
Multiple worlds exist to visit, each one representing a particular cycle block (i.e. Urza's block). Duels will progress through randomly created theme decks with cards only from that block, challenges will face off against the preconstructed theme decks from that block (with perhaps a few improvements for difficulty) each deck being accompanied by an associated vanguard avatar.
Duel and challenge descriptions will include reference to MTG universe lore to provide context for the match.
That's pretty much it. Not very difficult (just adding Vanguard options to quest mode), but a lot of grinding building worlds and decks for each cycle. And I'm not very familiar with the lore behind MTG so I wouldn't be much help in that department. My hope is to provide a bit more of a role-playing aspect to quest mode and be able to learn more of the lore than what is available in the flavor text.
