Windows 7 Users

Hi all, I hope it's cool that I created a new topic. Tonight was the first I'd heard of any unofficial updates to the beloved Microprose MTG games. I've followed all the information in the wiki and stickies and I just thought I'd let any prospective Win7 users know the game seems to run just fine. I am currently using Win7 RTM build 7600.
The only hangup I had during installation was the final step in which I was copying files from "20090824.zip" into the installation directory. The folder "Filtered" couldn't be copied because there's a file in the installation directory by the same name. Things seem to run fine without the folder being copied over though. Who knows I may run into some bugs later, but for now I love it!
Awesome work!

Heh, guess I spoke too soon! Seems to crash pretty consistently when a game ends, regardless of mode as far as I can tell. Compatibility modes don't seem to help.
Seems it also crashes when starting a draft. The draft itself and deck editing works just fine, but it will crash attempting to start the first game. (Maybe because it has to end the current game beforehand? I swear I heard the end-game trumpeting a few times just before it crashed.
Dunno if any devs will read this, or if this info is helpful, but here's what win7 spit at me regarding the crash during a draft.

Here's the dump after a crash at the end of a regular solo duel.

Hi and welcome on this forum
I too use win7 RTM 7600 x64 and I had the same issue than you
In fact, compatibility mode've helped a lot.
Just check the following options :
- Compatibility mode XP SP3 (optionnal but seems to reduce random crash)
- Turn off visual themes (mandatory)
- Turn off "desktop composition" (mandatory, it's the option just under visual themes)
- Run as administrator (optionnal but seems to reduce random crash too)
With this, Magic runs like a charm
PS : Don't worry about the filtered folder, you don't need it anymore.

Ah! Thank you very much, I seemed to have overlooked the visual themes and desktop composition features. Was a late night last night :b Anyway, no more crashes after a game ends, rock on!
