Alternate Card Art?

Hello,

I'm new to this site and the software. I've downloaded the MTG game, patched with all the new cards. When I look in the "CardArtNew" folder I notice that some images seem to have alternates, such as "0004.JPG" and "0004A.JPG". Most of these "alternates" use capital letters in their names, though a few use lower case.

My question is, can I choose which version of the art I'd like to have used with a specific card? The first version of each image (without any letters) seems to be the default when I look in the Deck builder. Does the program rotate the use of images or what? Why are these "alternate" images in there and how might I make use of them if I have a card art preference?

Sorry if this question has been asked before. (I'm guessing it has.) But if someone could even point me to an appropriate thread I'd be grateful.
