IRC channel
by Salbei » 01 Oct 2009, 22:04
I´ve toyed with the idea of creating a irc channel for manalink.
We could give support to newbies installing the game there, chat in general or maybe even organize some games/or things like "Project Zendikar".
The current channel is on the quakenet and called "#manalink".
If you want to join without an irc programm you can simply use the link below:
http://webchat.quakenet.org/

Enter your nickname there and join channel #manalink and click connect. simple as that.
There is no Q yet,i want to see how it is working out for a while before requesting Q.
I can´t be online 24/7 but i hope others will use this channel soon aswell.
Here is the WIKI link for playing multiplayer games:
http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Multiplayer_Dueling
(haven´t tested this at all,but it sounds like it will work)
Hope you like the idea and the channel will become crowded soon.

I'm sorry for making this stupid question, but does this mean that we could play On-line Manalink?
Thanks.
Thanks.

as far as i know it is possible , but not very stable yet.
both clients need the same version(same cardpool) and the IP of each other, this is where irc should get handy.
just query each other the ips and what you want to play and it should work.
I haven´t tested it myself yet ,but would like to try it out.
check the guide on the wiki -> http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Multiplayer_Dueling
this thread is about playing multiplayer -> viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1329
as usual it seems to be working best with xp , while vista blows at handling old games.

I'm interested! I meet two new guys on the channel. They played online and it was pretty cool. Me however are having some problems with the online game. I hope more people would go to the channel.

Wow, online play was great!
Too bad we couldn't get Lostsoul to work.
It would be nice to have a larger player pool, but I wouldn't expect a casual player to have multiple installations. (one with the latest cards, stock 2.0 for online, etc.) Maybe I could ask Jatill to put "Mok 2.0 (online)" in the switcher!
Don't give up on it yet, Salbei!

Had my first online game today!! It was great and sad at the same time since I lost
but anyway I hope more people would go the the IRC Channel. This game could work wonders.

Lostsoul's issue was not having an identical version to me (Moks 2.0 in this case). So, I guess I'm an expert now. I'll try to hang around #manalink for other casual players who need help.
You're welcome Lostsoul, glad I could finally help.

I would like to invite everyone to join us in the IRC Channel!!
It's where we get to play online magic!

Also: Is there anyway we can let people know about the channel. Like putting them on our signature.. I'm not sure if it's alright though! I don't wanna be band or anything!!
