I have the original Game CDs. What do I do next?

Hi.
I couldn't see this topic in the FAQ. Sorry if it has been posted already.

I have the original game CDs (Magic: The Gathering and Spells Of The Ancients). I used to play them when I had a Win95 machine, but when I upgraded to a faster machine running Win98, I started getting problems. I haven't looked at them since, but having 'found' this site (courtesy of BoardGameGeek.com) I'd like to try again. I'm currently running a Win XP machine.
Apart from installing the CDs themselves, what else do I need to do to enjoy this game again? There seem to be lots of downloads available, but which ones do I need, and what do they do?
