Help with Magiclimited.exe?

Postby sweetmelissa922 » 15 Feb 2010, 15:54

First I just want to say that this site and those of you involved in this project are amazing! Recently, my old computer died and dh bought us a new one with windows 7...I despaired of ever playing dotp again and it made me so sad :( but then I found this site and was in Shandalar and playing sealed deck within about a half hour....PLUS, I found out that not only could I play again, but some computer smart people had also made my dream of playing with later cards come true too! thank you, thank you, thank you! =D>

Ok, now last night I downloaded the 4 dowloads on the Wiki for what I understand to be new cards to play in duels. I unzipped everything with 7-zip and went to look for magiclimited.exe but I don't have one. Clearly, I am doing something wrong but because I am the least computer savvy person on the planet, I have no idea what. Am I not extracting these files to the right place or something? I am clueless. I looked around here but did not see anyone else who had this problem so I'm hoping maybe someone here can help?

Thanks again!!

Sadly ML give lot of trouble to 7, the only solution is to play under XP (multiboot or virtual OS)

So 2 things:

I'm running Manalink on Windows 7 and its working fine, so it can be done.

I was having a similar problem though, the trick is that the latest update zip has its internal folder structure set up in a different way than the other archives - you want to go into it, go into the folder Magic->zips->Magic there you'll see a bunch of stuff (including your missing MagicLimited executable) that should be copied into your main Magic directory. Hope that helps.

Ditto. I get the occasional (read: once an hour) "Windows Explorer has stopped working" error message, but the explorer restarts and I can keep playing without having to exit ML.

Thanks so much for the help! The magiclimited.exe file was indeed where oatmeal2k said it would be. Incidentally, for anyone else having a similar problem, I had to manually copy all the application extensions and other stuff in that folder to my main directory to get it to run but it is indeed starting now....yay!!!!! \:D/ I'm so excited to give this a whirl but it is too late tonight so I'll have to try it tomorrow. I am so super excited to have found this site, thanks again for all the help!

So although I found the magiclimited file and got going with it, it continues to crash very frequently. I actually have yet to finish a single duel without the program shutting down on me, which, as you can imagine, is very frustrating. I've tried playing in solo duel and sealed deck so far and it crashes in both of those. Any thoughts, ideas?
