crashes on load - win7 64bit

Postby Arly » 06 Jun 2010, 03:46

Hey guys

I just downloaded Magic the Gathering 2009 Edition (Updated March 2010). Whenever i run launcher or shandralar.exe it crashes instantly.

Installed at default C:\Program Files (x86)\MagicTG, i've tried c:\magictg, D:\programs\magictg
I've tried it with new card art installed and original
I've tried it in every compatibility mode
I've tried it with every exe with 'run as administrator checked'
rebooted

Is there something silly i'm missing?

Win7 Professional
AMD athlon 64x2
4gigs ram

I'm going to go try it on my XP partition anyway..would like to get this working in win7 though :|

thanks
Arly

Hey Arly, welcome to the forum.

That's a weird problem, the game should just work, not just crash. It runs in 1024x768, so if for some reason your video card doesn't work at that resolution, that could cause the game to disappear on launch. That's very unlikely and about the only thing I can think of so I hope someone else has a suggestion.

It could be a process or background app interfering too. Before this ISO you would definitely get interference from mouse managers. If you could find out what's going on there might be a way to prevent it in the future, perhaps by modifying the ACT fix, but yours is an edge case because thousands of people haven't had a problem. In fact you're only the second or third person I've heard from that can't run the game. In the meantime, enjoy it in XP! 8)
