Help needed to set up DeckBuilder
by Asatas » 23 Jul 2012, 18:32
Let me first say that I'm really impressed with the work done on Manalink. In the past I've been a silent consumer (no questions, no contributions -> no account). Some time ago I heard there was an update that allows to choose from more than the old 2k cards limit. YAY
I did a clean install of the 2-Part RAR in the repository and updated it with the latest update (only 1 !?)
Then I tried building a deck for the Challenge mode #1#1, my idea was Reanimator. But, no Reanimate in the deck builder, no jin-gitaxias and so on, cards which i've seen in the pre-built decks.
Then I noticed the manalink.csv in the main folder had only 2000 entries, found the magic_updater folder, ran the .bat, nothing happened except some files popped up in the subfolder (!?), then I copied the long manalink.csv from the updater folder over the old one... still nothing?!
the Deck.exe editor still has only 2000 cards available
Any advice on this would be appreciated!

Enjoy.
Don't forget to see the patches forum as almost every month there is an update available.

Yes, I have the Cirith Ungol Version. That's what I meant with "the one from the repository". Sorry

...you used the 2-part .RAR archive located here? Did you try it before applying the latest update? If not, please do that to see if it makes a difference.
...and when you say "Latest Update", are you getting that from here? I'm curious because you mentioned that the Manalink.csv file only had 2000 entries. That isn't right. The Manalink.csv from the latest update has well over 12,000 entries, and the Full MediaFire Download for Manalink 3.0 doesn't contain the .CSV file at all... I think you're using the wrong version.
Look at the dates on these files:
Magic.exe
Cards.dat
DBInfo.dat
Rarity.dat
They should all be dated from July, 2012.

Yes, I took the install from where your link pointed.
then shandalar from the same site, overwriting nothing just adding.
and yes, then the patch from where you pointed.
All the files you mentioned are from 7/23/2012
:S ...
I'll try re-unpacking without shandalar 2012 and see if that changes something
But what bugs me most is that now that the 16k CSV is also in the main folder, the deck editor still doesnt show all cards.
Getting late, will try this tomorrow
Thx for the help anyway

Yes, do a clean unRAR of the 2-part Manalink_3.0 archive and then run Magic.exe. If you have problems with images or text, ReBoot. That all-in-one install has proven successful for most, I'm hoping that it'll work for you.
Try running Shandalar 2012 as a seperate entity, you can report any issues with it here.
Incidently, the Manalink.csv file is used only to produce the .DAT files for the game, and is not needed in the Program Folder. I believe DeckBuilder uses Cards.dat and DBInfo.dat.
Also, DeckBuilder will only show those cards that are Coded and usable in the game (that's currently 5770 Coded out of 12685 in the .CSV).

Hmm. I did a clean Unrar today, then first thing i did was ->Magic.exe ->Deck Editor -> Search for "Rean".
I still just get "Rotlung Reanimator",no "Reanimate" (and I've seen that in decks).
Also, the Phyrexian Praetors (Urabrask, Sheoldred...)are missing, but other new cards are there (Priest of Urabrask).
Still seems like there are only 2k cards.
The cards.dat and dbinfo.dat are dated 6/9/2012.
Can the system setup affect this at all?
I'm running Manalink on a W Vista build (Split boot,I mainly use Ubuntu)
Edit: Just tried something: I copied an Affinity deck from the challenge help thread and inserted it into Manalink (just overwrote an existing deck).
When I ran the program and loaded the deck, some cards weren't what they should be, and back in the deck editor, exactly those cards (i.e. Frogmite, Memnite,...) weren't available either.
The other way round, the game DOES show [.3240 4 Reanimate] cards (remember, not in the deck editor) in an existing deck the right way...

Do you run in admin mode?
Do you have the C++ visual studio patch installed?
Do you have an antivirus running, if so did you put Magic.exe into suspicious process white list or did you try to disable completely the antivirus before running Magic.exe?

Tried all 3 (at once) - installed VC++ Sp1, disabled kaspersky, set magic exe & deck exe to run as admin
That didn't fix it
The lonely Rotlung Reanimator (only card i see when searching for "Rean") still haunts me ^^

Did you put Magic.exe in the Kapersky white list?
Did you try to move your Magic folder to another area (like c:\ or c:\temp)?
Do you run in a english Vista OS?

It's partly our fault since this search box is our dev last addition to the original DeckEditor, I will complete the wiki about it (filter, buttons, etc...)
