I installed virtual pc, opened the virtual pc console, configured the virtual computer and ran it. A kind of command prompt launched, then I opened my dvd drive and installed a WXP Sp3 in the virtual computer. When windows installation finished, I launched XP, created a folder in both desktops and shared it. I put there all the Manalink zips and ran them directly in my virtual computer so that the game is only installed to my virtual hard disk.
My first attempt was to run it with the XP mode. I created a shortcut in the Xp mode desktop and everything worked... but the game was kind of slow...

Hmm it is quite odd for me that people have issues with running Manalink with Windows 7.
I´ve been using the same Magic folder pretty much forever now (just patching the latest updates / artwork etc.).Had to make some compatibility changes under Windows XP , but everything was fine.
Installed Windows 7 (32bit) around 1 year (?) later - and kept using the same folder. Had to do some minor changes there aswell to make it run.
Around a month later i´ve switched to Windows 7 (64bit) and didn´t have any problems.Still the very same folder just with the latest patches.
I keep my Windows updated (just windows update) so if you haven´t done that it "might" help. Can´t think of any custom changes i had to make.
No virtual mashine or compatibility changes at all where needed.
OT: I could not get the old game "Lineage2" to run because my mousedrivers where out of date ... can you imagine how long it took me to figure that out ? That taught me the lesson to keep things updated

Retired a long time ago. I will not reply.
