I have encountered a new problem.
when I duel an opponent mana that doesn't appear in the "edit deck / sell cards" is now in my deck. This was the reason I was trying to d/l SOTA; in the hopes of fixing this problem. What can i do now? This problem takes the fun out of playing

Oh, I think I understand. There is extra "land" in your deck? And you are playing Shandalar? It's in the manual:harlanateher wrote:when I duel an opponent mana that doesn't appear in the "edit deck / sell cards" is now in my deck.
So, it's not a bug, it's a feature. DISCLAIMER: The above numbers might have changed in any of the expansions; I'm not going to look it up.Microprose's Magic: The Gathering original instruction manual wrote:First of all, each difficulty level has a minimum number of cards required to take part in a duel.If you begin a duel with less than the limit in your deck, the Shandalar Dueling Commission temporarily adds random basic lands to your library (after the ante but before the shuffle) until it reaches the minimum requirement. Those lands are confiscated again at the end of the duel.
- Code: Select all
Difficulty Minimum Deck
Apprentice 25
Magician 30
Sorcerer 35
Wizard 40
However, if I misunderstood your problem, please reword it.

The multiplayer instructions are at http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Multiplayer_Duelingdeleteyrself wrote:- is the ip to ip the only way to play online?

Direct TCP/IP connections are not possible.
We also do not use the latest version in multiplayer.
You can chat with the few of us at http://webchat.quakenet.org/ on channel #manalink.
The switcher is only needed when you want to switch, not everytime
manalink 201 is an old update, ignore it.
good luck.

i have some major problems with the Mok download. the original worked perfectly, i do have vista. i DLed Mok 1&2, card art new, and 20091104. all files were DLed in My Documents the i extracted them all to Music(it was an empty folder).
Mok loaded fine(never made a deck or played a duel) all the art was there
The 'best of' files cards.dat, manalink.csv was added to the main folder and i did the New Card Art switch.
Now the fun begins...all the cards and art was there but when i played a game, NO cards were in my deck and i lose right away. i CAN play with other made decks and things are fine. what did i do wrong?! please help!!

I also downloaded 20091104 (and all the other stuff according to the download guide).
My challenge mode never works. Whatever deck I run immediately loses. I even tried running 60 mountains. Anyone know a guide/patch that will result in functional challenges?
Also, I think the new patch has a reduced cardpool. I am missing some key cards including Inkwell Leviathan and nearly all of Alara. And tons of slightly older cards.

Is there any way to get the new cards/stuff other than via Rapidshare? My PC died and I'm reinstalling from scratch. Rapidshare is, to say the least, uncooperative.
From the wiki:
'Preciate it.
From the wiki:
Now that you have Manalink 2.0 working, you probably want all the latest cards and features. To add those on,
* For the new cards and features, download and unpack http://rapidshare.com/files/309372310/20091119.zip (make sure to extract the folder with Magic.exe in it, and not the stuff before that)

If you want to wait a week I'm going to grab everything and throw it into mediafire or something.Professor wrote:Is there any way to get the new cards/stuff other than via Rapidshare? My PC died and I'm reinstalling from scratch. Rapidshare is, to say the least, uncooperative.

Is this legal? Is it a fan creation of the game(s) or is it...otherwise?

Other than artwork in some cases, there have been no changes to Shandalar, so it should still be the same as before. All the changes people have made were to the Gauntlet, Sealed deck, and the challenge modes.

hey!
I've been reading this forum for 2 days now so I dare to ask.
I've downloaded Mok's two part rar Manalink which works in itself on my machine.
Then I copied these four http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Installation into c:\magic overwriting all
Since then when I start shandalar and try to open deck editor (F1), the game instantly crashes
I use xp
pls help!
thx!

F1 bring me the duel menu while F2 open the deck editor section (Deck and Face builder selection)...
If your ML is up to date, you should have those things colored in green by my madz mathusalem graphic skillez:
If not, grab christmas patch 1.2 and jatill graphic pack for constructed and limited version.

when i start magic.exe f1 and f2 works fine just like you writestassy wrote:F1 bring me the duel menu while F2 open the deck editor section (Deck and Face builder selection)...
my problem is when i start c:/magic/shandalar.exe either if i try to go and edit my deck from the adventure screen with the icon in the upper left corner or if I hit F1 for the same, the software instachrashes
I haven't tried - or understand yet - magic.exe features since i'm new to the game I planned to play this duelling cardcollecting and adventuring type of magic that shandalar would make possible.
So I'm a bit sad that this is the part of the package that doesn't work after updated with the 4 directories on update page - as I stated in vanilla manalink shandalar works too
