Using Manalink 3.0 cards

Postby Aswan jaguar » 27 Jun 2013, 14:41

I wanted for some time now to make a list of how can some cards be played or activated (cards that work different due to Manalink.3 limitations and have "smart ways" and workarounds)

I will insert info as I encounter them so the list is rather not so much of a list now. (of course everyone is invited to give a hand)and I will keep the first post updated if others post info.

In the main folder you have installed the game there is a config.txt that enables you to choose several things some cards will behave slightly differently than they are supposed to like the "DuhMode" which is preselected to choose the best target for you for some cards and the "SmartTarget which is not preselected:

// Automatically choose targets when possible.
// Also see TargetsHuman.txt and TargetsAI.txt
// Set to 0 to deactivate and 1 to activate
SmartTarget:0

// Make auto-decisions for some cards like Wall of Reverence and Squee
// Set to 0 to deactivate and 1 to activate
DuhMode:1

Basic Knowledge about how to use triggers in Manalink:
Manalink triggers are executed in the same order you select them, rather than going onto the stack; so unlike in modern rules, you have to click the Valkyrie's effect card first then the Monstrosity to reanimate him.

Also if you don't want to miss some triggers when a lot of cards trigger do it manually and select always the trigger of the card with the lower mana cost to the bigger mana costs.

1- Cards with abilities that can be played from the Graveyard or Exile or Hand or... use the RED card Engine of Rules. Each time a card with those abilities is castable,activate-able,... the Rules Engine card Lightens-becomes yellow like any other normal card that is ready to be played.Click on the Rules Engine card and a menu will pop up asking what card do you want to play if there are more available cards you can play click it again and again until you play all cards your available mana lets you.
Abilities that use Engine card are:
1a- Cycling
1b- Flashback
1c- unearth
1d- Ninjutsu
1e- Transmute
1f- channel
1g- Conspire (after you pay the normal cost of the spell and target then Rules Engine card will highlight to use conspire ability).
1h- Scavenge & similar worded cards=(exile this card from graveyard)
1i- Forecast
1j- Bloodrush
1k- Reinforce

2- Cavern of Souls: If you play a spell that has the type selected for Cavern of Souls and the land is untapped, just tap & use it.wait bugged card

3- Xenagos, God of Revels :If you only have creatures suffering from summoning sickness (and Xenagos is an enchantment or suffering from summoning sickness) then the program skips your combat step so you never get a chance to give a creature haste and allow it to attack.
Solution -To use Xenagos, God of Revels you have to declare the attack manually, by putting a stop on the phase or clicking on it instead of "Done" to end your first main phase.

4- If you click on the Gaea's Touch it will give you the option to play an additional forest.

Don't forget the basic of the basic > config.txt, because some cards may automatically do things you might not want them do aka:

// Automatically choose targets when possible.
// Also see TargetsHuman.txt and TargetsAI.txt
// Set to 0 to deactivate and 1 to activate
SmartTarget:0
and

// Make auto-decisions for some cards like Wall of Reverence and Squee
// Set to 0 to deactivate and 1 to activate
DuhMode:1
Also there is still an issue with Cavern of Souls so wait a bit for this one :P

Cards that grant an activated ability to others cards like Citanul Hierophants or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth need to be selected 1st then target the card having the new ability in order to activate it
