Guide : How to create new Handskin /\ set of New Handskins

Postby Salbei » 29 Sep 2009, 19:18

1.You need a .bmp file (24bit,145x51).
I´ve created one to show you where what will be displayed.
http://salbei.spacequadrat.de/pics/shand.png (this image is bigger so you can actually see what it looks like at a close-up,you need to download the file below to edit and not this one).
you can download this >HERE<

2.You need to know where what is displayed. Here is a ingame screenshot with the file above:
http://salbei.spacequadrat.de/pics/guide.png

I´ve tried to make it as easy to understand as possible , so in case the pictures aren´t enough information here are the colors + what they mean:

blue = the bottom of the hand (direct below the cards)
red = top of the hand
white = text will be displayed here ("Your Hand")
green = you can click this zone to move your hand (down/up)

black = this is border 1 (this will get mirrored at the right side of the cards)
grey = this is border 2 (this will get mirrored at the left side of the cards)
yellow = this is the border next to your cards (left and right next to the cards)

3.You will need a picture editing program (i´m currently using GIMP, just google it - its for free)

4.Start editing the file. Can´t help you there , you will get ideas while doing it.

5.Save the file as *.bmp (24bit,145x51)
Here is some basic knowledge:
The game is using these files to display the hands according to your deck color.
magic\DuelArt\HAND_BLACK.bmp
magic\DuelArt\HAND_GREEN.bmp
magic\DuelArt\HAND_RED.bmp
magic\DuelArt\HAND_BLUE.bmp
magic\DuelArt\HAND_WHITE.bmp

So if you want your brand new skin only to be shown in green decks then overwrite magic\DuelArt\HAND_GREEN.bmp .
If you want all your handskins to look the same simply overwrite them all with the same image.

6.Start the game and check your work out ! You will prolly have to do this a couple times but now you know what to look for.

---
couple old previews (first attempts at this):
granite black
granite purple
preview of dark

I´ve also created a small package with complete hand-skins (including methusalems new skin and the classic skin in case you want them back. >direct download< )

---

So thats my little guide. Hope you can follow it.
Would be nice if you could share your customized hand skins in here.

recently added this one:

Created a new set :

here is a preview:
Image
->fade_silver<-

other previews:
fade_blue
fade_pink
fade_purple
fade_green
fade_red]fade_red

you can get the new fade set here:
fade.rar (1,5 mb)

Installation:
1.Look at the previews of each file and choose the one you want to use.
2.rename the .bmp to what you want to use it for
(HAND_BLUE.bmp = this file will be used to display your hand when the main color is blue)
2a.if you want to use the same image everytime you have to copy the bmp file and rename it for everything ->HAND_BLUE , HAND_RED ,HAND_GREEN ,HAND_WHITE ,HAND_BLACK .
3.Move the renamed file/s into your DuelArt folder and overwrite the existing file.

I´ve also added it to the compilation (hand.rar) in the post above.
