Alternate UI skin
by Salbei » 14 Oct 2009, 15:33
I´ve changed pretty much everything i could (except the hand skin ,did that earlier).

here are some more screenshots:
preview1
preview2
Note: i left hands untouched - check the thread for new hand skins.
The handskin used in the screenshots is called Fade_silver.Check the handskin thread for instructions.
Installation
0.create a backup of your Duelart folder !
1. Download the updatedUI
2.unzip the folder
3.copy the all image files (79)
4.browse to your game folder (c:\magic)
5.open the duelart folder (c:\magic\Duelart)
6.paste all image files and overwrite existing files
i will change a few pics in there soon. since this was my first attempt.
Short Tutorial on how you can exchange any of these pics yourself:
1.browse to the image files that are stored in the Duelart folder (c:\magic\Duelart).
2.pick an images you dislike and want to change.
3.open the file with GIMP (or any other Tool - even paint should do it)
4.overwrite the file with anything you like. just make sure you save it under the name and attributes of the existing file (width+heigth AND as .bmp or .png , whatever you are replacing)
Manual Adjustments:
I´ve prepared some pics here (already resized them so you just have to rename the file to what you want to replace (TERR_*).

Thank you!
But i´m not 100% happy with the pics . a few of them don´t look that good . going to change them sooner or later.
Also the new hands look less out of place on these backgrounds
. I´m trying to make this as customizeable as possible.
too bad some parts of the UI can´t be changed yet.
uploaded a updated version. slowly but steady i´m getting there

thanks! Couldn´t have done it without your and math´s work though.
minor updates (check the 3rd image from the top)
- changed Winbk_Telluser.pic (the info bar "Interrupts ?")
- changed Winbk_Spellchain.pic (background for the stack)
i cannot really create propper backgrounds for the .pic files , but i´ve figured out how to change the background color to a nice black
theoreticly i could change the buttons colors , but thats pretty much it.
used moks bmp2pic.exe to create the pic files. just left them blank so the programm will repeat the image.
(mok used that .exe to create different faces^^)
if there is any way to mess around with the size of the images (width/heitght) we could do "real" backgrounds.currently you can just convert 138x170 256 colour bmp files to pic files.
best thing would be that you could read .bmps instead .pics but nobody seems to know where to change that.

i was refering to the bmp2image.exe (from mok).
Currently you can just display some of game the images when they are in .PIC form.
The problem is that you cannot create .pic files with the regular Editors (photoshop etc). so the only way for me to create a "new" .pic file is to use moks bmp2image. (that was designed for the purpose of creating pic images to be used for faces -it is impossible to use a different width/height than these face pictures have)
That .exe is restricted to just accept bmp files with a very tigh setting (the bmp file that you want to convert must have a fixed width/height that you cannot adjust and it has to be in 256colors).
long story short:
the game is using pic files with these settings : 240x170 // 82x768 // 164x600 // 131x36
i can only create pic files with these settings : 170x230 (adjust it and it won´t become a readable .pic)
and i haven´t even looked at the deckbuilder yet - prolly another 12 different settings there.

Gotcha. Nothing I can do there, unfortunately. I don't know why Mok didn't leave his source code. It would have saved us all SO much time.Salbei wrote:long story short:

I thought I had installed the latest updates, but how do I get my interface to look like the screenshots above: the one with the lighter bars for the mana symbols and rearranged graveyard and card backs?

follow the instructions under the pictures.
ingame there are 2 options to re-arrange your UI. advanced and normal - screenshots are taken with the normal outfit.

The Backgrounds for the UI in these screenshots are just awesome.
But when download the dualart_sal.rar from this post, I unpack it and it is full of BMP files and PNG files. Placing them in the dualart folder doesn't do it. Magic is looking for .PICT files
Am i missing something?

The new UI works in Mana Link / Duel mode .... not in Shandalar, right?
I think I am getting it now.
