Multiplayer dueling
Hello all,
My (not real) name is Yaki and I'm new to this forum but not to MTG
There's almost no interest in this forum for online play of Manalink 2.0.
When the game is installed it can't be played online because there is no green gem shown. I know that there is a multiplayer wiki but it's really not necessary to go trough all the steps there (http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Multiplayer_Dueling).
I figured out what is wrong and why it works only with MP wiki
When following the usual tutorial (http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Installation) there are no settings imported to Windows registry and that's why the gem don't show up. But it's playable in multilayer indeed.. All you have to do is save this text:
MP wiki works because you first have to install Manalink 123 which imports the registry key automatically.
So.. what am I suggesting?
Add pasted registry key to Manalink 2.0 zips and delete the unnecessary MP wiki which only confuses people.
If I'm inventing hot water, please.. no hard fealings
I'm willing to contribute and make the necessery changes to wiki.
Another thing.. multiplayer is working just fine over the Internet with Hamachi zeroconf VPN client. It would be great to popularize Manalink 2.0 for online play because it has rules enforcement. I'm willing to open and administer an IRC channel for that purpose. People could meet there and easily find opponents.
What do you think? There's no reason to play (for me) the best MTG video game and not to use multiplayer (which is playable).
The only bug I encountered is that sometimes both players get "Waiting for opponent" and the connection breaks (but we haven't tested it further as one of us was playing trough virtual machine so maybe it wasn't a real bug
)
