singleplayer and multiplayer updates
by Lex » 13 Feb 2010, 19:34
I do not understand a few things, so:
1) Will be ever any new multiplayer updates? Newest update on wiki in multiplayer guide: http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Multiplayer_Dueling links to update dated 2009-03-18 (if I understand correctly that file name contains date of update).
2) I did notice a few posts on forum that new cards do not appear or do not quite work in Shalandar (= so they are not for singleplayer mode). If new updates do not work in multiplayer also (look at my first question), what are they for?
3) I'm playing with friends over internet using Hamatchi and included "original" decks (we did not construct any new decks so far). But from time to time I would like to enjoy "fresh new" singleplayer mode also. I would like to have it updated to most current version as (as I read on forum) it is probably needed to update in-game graphics. How to play these two things at the same time? Do I need to waste my precious HDD space and do second full installation designed only for singleplayer?

1)Multiplayer is currently blocked at Manalink 2.03, you can still play on latest version but it will crash
2)Prolly update got messed up while applied, because most of user playing Shandalar and latest version don't have this problem.
3) You must have 2 separated folders of ML, each dedicated to respectively multiplayer version and solo version

1) Is someone working on this to find why it crashes? Or this project is "lost in space"? Is there any possibility to get some graphical update on this working multiplayer version? (= I mean: new backgrounds etc.)
2) That was not exactly my question. I know that Shandalar works/can be started but it does not have any new cards inside. Question was: if multiplayer project is "lost in space" and Shandalar does not include any new cards - what are they for?
3) It is a real pity. Do new versions of manalink work in other directories? (original had to be installed in C:\Magic\Program)

1)2)There is few or no development for multiplayer or Shandalar that I know of, only little research to try which version of ML2+ broke it. You can contribute by trying every versions released so far since those 3 years, good luck because some of our member here were very prolific during those times...
3)The ML folder should work in any place for solo/custom, the registry should update it in real time except maybe the multiplayer data

1) Last multiplayer stable version was March 2009. Apparently, using C instead of asm broke it.
