Collectible Card Game Headquarters

Hey all, I have a question about the multiplayer that I did not find in the FAQs and did not find when searching the forums.

I cannot connect online for some reason. When I try to join a game, as soon as I click join, then hit ok to search, it tells me that "I can't create a DirectPlay on that service provider" ...or something similar to that. What can I do?
It seems that I can host a match, but no one is around...
If anyone can help, this would be much appreciated.

Of course no one is around, there is no lobby in which to connect. You must have a friend ready to go if you want to play multiplayer.

so we can't just join random players?
