Installation problems despite using guide

I'm following the guide to the letter right now, and just unpacking the two .rar files is creating an issue for me.

Both of the files (part1 and part2) seem to contain identical files and folders. However, the instructions simply say "unpack these 2 files". Is the second intended to overwrite the first? I've tried doing so, and still i'm unable to see any draft option under "solo duel". I can get the general game working (as in running magic.exe DOES start the original game) but i'm not seeing any of the manalink features.

Is there a previous step to this? Are the .rar files not supposed to contain identical folders, perhaps?

I'm 100% certain I have part1 and part2.

If you are referring about the 2 files from the wiki :

Those 2 files are in fact one big file which was split in 2 (hence the "part1" and "part2" in the filenames).

So when you unzip any of those file, the unzip software proceed on the 2 files (that is why when you try to unzip one then another you unzip in fact twice).

after you unzipped once one of the 2 files, you need to download and unzip and override into the newly created directory all the files shown in the bottom of the wiki page (latest patch, noncardart, cardartnew and cardartlimited). Be carefull, if your unzipped files override nothing that mean it's not at the exact place.

I dont get it.I'm having the exact same issue. This makes no sence at all. These 2 rar files contain exactly the same thing (same amount of folders/files, same names of folders/files. how do I unpack both of them? what program should I use? I'm using winrar.

Right click on any file, select "unpack to directory x", look at the unpack window, it should process the 2 files at once, and that is it.

Or if winrar is not integrated to windows shell :


Double click on any file, select "extract", clic ok on the window directory selection, look at the unpack window, it should process the 2 files at once, and that is it.

I was trying for a log time to make the wiki version with all patches to work for me,with no luck.finally I am happy that I succeed it! I understood that duelart was causing me all the trouble{crashing the game}when it was going to load [gauntlet,challenge,etc]so I put moks duelart,the game doesn't crash now.But i have this awful..

what is the problem guys,am I missing some drivers?If I try to put a single thing from the new duel art it crashes,and it doesn't show the past duelart features.windows xp.no service pack.

You are indeed missing the background files.

In your DuelArt folder do you have exactly 233 files for around 34,5 Mo?

now I have only 92 files around 7,5mb.

The problem is you said earlier that this folder was causing crash.
Did you download the non card art file from the wiki?

stassy,thanks for the list.It helped me find the problem.the program which is responsible to load the images,crushes if I there is a single bmp image in my duelart file.I still don't know how to fix this.
- About the wiki,the noncart_art zip doesn't have half of your png duelart pics.

noncart_art.zip doesn't have the complete folder of Duelart because it override only some original files (the others are in PIC format).

In the wiki there is at least one background that should be there, for exemple the file TERR_GREENPATT.bmp with the unicorn should appear randomly when you play with or against a pure green deck
