It's your install path causing the problem.

The ISO will only work from the install path ‘C:\Program Files\MagicTG’ or ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\MagicTG’ if using Windows7 x64.

nope, that didn't work.
"C:\Program Files\MagicTG\MTGLauncher.exe" - same error

i remember the installer saying it wouldn't work with a long install path, so i thought "c:\games\magictg" would be short enough....

actually, i modified my windows installation with nLite and set the program files path to "C:\PF" but magic didn't work from that path anyway...
u should code it to get the windows environment variables for the path, not assume it to be "program files"..

anyway, my problem still remains. i can run "magic.exe" and start a duel, but i can't play shandalar.

Too be honest - if you've modified your Windows installation there's no guarantee that the program will run at all. This is after all a 1997 16-bit program which a lot of people have had problems running on post-Win95 set-ups with totally standard Windows installations. :(

The game has a history of patches and fixes added to it to get it to run on OS' other than Win95, and being somewhat temperamental if not installed correctly. The installer manages to incorporate these patches in a single package, but due to the numerous problem people have had getting the game to run when the patches were installed individually - it uses the most common Windows 'programs' path so the patches work.

Could I suggest you completely un-install the game and let the installer install it to the default path, and see if this helps. But as I said, sorry, but no guarantees on a modified Windows installation.
