Running the game on a Samsung tablet with winlator
Posted: 28 Sep 2025, 07:49Hi everybody, long time lurker, first time poster. I've tried so hard to get this to work and I'm just on the cusp, but I've run into one issue that I can't seem to solve and can't find anywhere else so I figured I would get some thoughts from anyone who might have any.
I set up winlator on my Samsung s6 lite tablet, and I've created multiple different containers with different parameters to test different things, I've also downloaded various versions of this game from the oldest/most basic to the most recent.
I got the game running nearly perfectly, which was a real thrill, but I still have one tiny issue. When I'm in combat mode inside of Shandalar, during the attack phase the attack pop-up window shows up when creatures for either side attack, but then when it goes to select your blockers, the pop-up box disappears and I cannot select the opponent's creatures to block. I do have an issue sometimes where your hand, the pop-up window for that, disappears, but if I go to the next turn step it usually reappears. I cannot find a similar workaround for this combat pop-up window and every time, no matter which one I try and which parameters, the pop-up window disappears when it's time to select which creatures I'm blocking and with which of my creatures, etc. So I can play the game I just can't do combat.
The only other issue that I noticed, which may have some kind of relevance, is that the part on the left side that shows the card you highlighted most recently often goes blank and doesn't show the card I'm mousing over. If I cycle between advance and basic views I can get it back, so that's not as crucial of an issue. I wonder if the two are related. The combat issue and that pop up window disappearing just make it impossible to do combat correctly. I'm thinking that I can create some direct damage decks and play it that way but not being able to do combat really limits my ability to fully play the game.
Any help / thought / ideas are tremendously appreciated! And thank you everyone for all of your work with this over the years. I've had many many many hours of fun with this game and getting it to run on my tablet would be amazing!
