Help Me Please get the install to work?

Postby sandman423 » 24 Feb 2011, 04:08

Hello...

I did everything I was told here...

http://www.slightlymagic.net/wiki/Installation

And I installed Original Game and when I tried installing Spells of the ancients it said I needed the CD so I just skipped it and Installed all the stuff listed on that url.

Why are my artworks messed up?? Also It has been awhile since I reformated my computer but the updates for this old game are FANTASTIC so I would love to play them again.

Here are some pix

I am on WIndows 7 64Bit. I just want the most current Manalink Cards, Challenges, and I was also wondering how I can get back my save data from previous versions where I was able to Beat Challenges for BloodBraid Elf, Brain Freeze, and TangleWire

Thanks for the screenshots and the description, helped a lot.

There are 3 different "versions".

Constructed (magic.exe) (best of,for challenges etc)
Limited (magiclimited.exe) (for sealed deck, couple different cards)
Custom (magiccustom.exe) (customized 2000 cards)

I guess you started magiccustom.exe by the looks of it.
Please try to start the "normal" "magic.exe" and check if the problem is still there.

If you just need the latest Artwork check the "SCV" link in my signature and scroll down to "Artwork". You might have to install the latest patch aswell. Check "Patches" in my signature and download the latest release.

Let me know if you need any help.

Oh i didn´t see this. You do not have to install Spells of the Ancients. This is most likely responsible for the wrong artwork and will also mess up you version.I´m surprised the game would even start after that.

Everything should be included already and you don´t need to install SOTA or the original Manalink.

Might be the easiest to start from scratch and re-install. Might want to check the SCV version (signature) if you don´t mind downloading ~400 MB again.
Otherwise download the "Artwork" at the SCV and see if that fixes the issue for you.

I don´t know which patches you already applied so i would suggest to just use the SCV version otherwise.

So your saying just reinstall original DVD and then just use Manalink SCV?

I just downloaded all files and just installed Manalink SCV

I Extracted Magic Folder to C Drive n added artwork, patch given, and will try it when I get back from work thanks a lot. I'll keep you posted if it worked

SCV alone would be enough (+artwork of course). Would be pointless to install any other version first, SCV should be all you need.
