Ok so I went to this topic

And I downloaded both the MOK'S MANALINK 2.0 VERSION and MAGIC: THE GATHERING "Duels of the Planeswalkers".

First I installed Duels of the Planeswalkers with the cue file using Daimon Tools, and after that I'm not sure if I did what I was suppose to or not but I'll get to that in a sec.

After installing DotP, I tried playing it only to have it not even start up. I'm on Windows XP and I tried having it start up for compatibility with 98 but that didn't work either. Then I extracted the Manalink files and placed them all in the DotP folder. After that the game would play but certain things, especially with Shandalar, would move or scroll too quickly to even read. On top of that, there seems to be many graphic glitches here and there and after about 15 min the game errors and closes. Sometimes the text on the cards will completely vanish as well.

I mainly got this game for just Shandalar and the duel modes not for online play, so as long as those work I'm fine. However, I'm missing pretty much everything extra Manalink was suppose to add even though I put it all in the folder I thought I was suppose to.

Anyway, I'm really not a tech savy person so I have no idea what to do. Any help would be really appreciated. x.x

Manalink is currently under a huge overhaul, the last working version can be obtained by downloading this version first, which is a standalone working Magic folder :

It contain also now a standalone DeckBuilder and Shandalar

Version 1)For Shandalar play (it is good for the other aspects of the game),but it doesn't have a lot more cards that are coded since then. I will recommend this version as it is very easy to install and stable for Shandalar.

Version 2)Now if you want to get a version not very much tested for Shandalar as it is new but will have a lot more cards (not for shandalar) for Gauntlet,duel...

You should be ok with these.
Then you always have to check the update forum as new updates come almost every month.

Thank you for your quick responses. Currently right now, I don't want to get a version that isn't stable for Shandalar, so I'm in the middle of downloading the torrent in the first link that Aswan jaguar posted.

I may at some point in the near future want the rest of cards to use in Duel mode. If I do, am I able to have 2 seperate folders set up with 2 different magic installations so I can still play Shandalar on a stable version and the updated version with all the new cards and stuff for duels? Or is there an updated version that Shandalar is known to work fine with?


Also, if I have problems with this download, I'll post back after. Thanks again.

Ok, I finished downloading, installed and then patched and....well....there's no text in the game at all except the title. I mean ALL the text is gone...even the text on all the cards is gone. Here so you can see.

That's what I meant,the 2nd is a different instalation.

I made now clear to my earlier post about Version 1 and 2.
For the Iso version you are trying to install search that post for the answer,I am almost certain that others had that problem and the solution is somewhere there.

After searching the topic, the only thing I see is "Disable Visual Themes" but this does not work for me no matter if I try it on Shandalar.exe or Magic.exe.


Also, it was Version 1 I went with as it's most important that I get a version that runs Shandalar correctly.

Couple things you have to do.
1.If you haven´t already apply the Compatibility Tool patch -> Tutorial + Links
2.Disable Visual Themes
->
Create a shortcut to your magic.exe (c:\Magic\magic.exe). rightclick ->create shortcut->desktop
Disable Visual Themes (rightclick the shortcut to magic ->properties->compatibility->check "deactivate visual themes".
Start the game with the shortcut on your desktop/anywhere.
3.Reboot!

Also there is no need to use compatibility both run on xp.

I had tried all that stuff with the visual themes, but after restarting my computer it works great! =D

Er...ok I hate to post again but...

It was running fine for a good but, but then after I closed it and reopened it now it's having some bad graphic glitches. Most notably on my character that was made for Shandalar. It's just a a completely glitched out graphic as well as the box for the name and the name itself. Also, some of the icons in Shandalar are now glitched and it wasn't like this at all the first time I loaded it. @_@

Check if the files in the Magic folder are not in read only mode.
Did you create a character face before creating a new game?
What is your OS?
