Latest patch and full installation instructions can be found as always in patches forum and is one of the two top post in topics always. As of March 2020 we have regular releases about every two months so go there and get the latest patch.

17 MARCH 2020:
Ok, guys there is a new update that has the whole program installation in one file and the cardart file in another but with all latest changes made to manalink imported and a lot more cards. Works better with windows 10.
That makes this installation obsolete so go fetch that instead "New Base Install & Bugfix"

Obsolete and older installation processes | Open: As n fully and completely clean version of Manalink is in order, here are several versions that work and should be playable :

Moderators suggest you use one of these first two listed (and it doesn't matter which), but others are included for those interested in past versions. After you have downloaded and installed the base game, go to the patches folder here, find the latest patch (should be pinned at the top), and follow instructions (unzip the patch archive into the program folder in the install directory with virus scanner turned off, as it gives a false positive). Also remember to follow instructions for downloading the card art at the bottom of each patch post.

i'm trying new things and this is one of them.
Manalink ver 3.0 date 2012-09-16 V3 (Same Version of CirothUngol, in fact! he make all the job... so, you should thank him)

this version was split with kamaleon 2.0 in 2 parts without be related (for that reason, mediafire don't block the files) and you need kamaleon 2.0 (but, dont worry is easy, and I made a video tutorial

Download, extract, launch Magic.exe and you should have everything to get started.
There is to note that in order to play some cards you need to beat the Challenge mode (Duel>Gauntlet>Challenge mode checkbox>Number of opponent set to 12), there are walkthrough that show how to beat them in the Deck section, cheats are not allowed to be posted.

This version is more recent with more bugs fixed and less clobbering files, however is missing the card artwork images and system files
Ok, so here's my current folder, updated until the latest patch, Manalink 3.0 (and probably beyond, as some bugs related to that patch are already fixed here).
I've purged almost all the unnecessary files.

No card artworks included, but be advised that I'm using Snacko's new "CardArtLib.dll", so if something isn't working, you probably have rename your "CardArtNew" to "CardArtManalink" and/or to install vs2010sp1 redist: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... px?id=8328 for dependencies.

If this is too complicated for you, just use the "CardArtLib.dll" that comes with the latest patch : http://www.slightlymagic.net/forum/view ... =85&t=6284. Doesn't overwrite all, just replace the DLL, otherwise you'll lose the bug fixing I mentioned above.

Final warning : some antivirus (like Avira and Malwarebytes Antimalware) signal the "Magic.exe" as infested by a worm. As far as I know, this is a false positive due to the particular structure of Magic.exe. I checked both my PCs and they're clean of malware and similar stuff. Plus, Mediafire has his own antivirus and reported nothing.

can't get the game started... nether CirothUngol's nor Gargaroz' version. wtf its a MSVCP100.dll ??? I have 2.0 in use w/o any problem

i googled that dll and it appears to be from Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package as mentioned in the first post in the part from Gargaroz version

thanks for the hint... I'm a step closer now, but still can't play. when i start a duel the game crashes and in the deck editor is no art...

after trying to replace the art.dlls and cardArt-Folder without any result I'm starting to feel a little dumb. after deleting it all i just downloaded the "CirothUngol version" again, please give me a step-by-step guide for incredible hard task [-o<

you cant start up just deck.exe it will crash. you can do it inside of magic.exe though just fine. if your running windows 7 you must setup your DEP and add the game to its list so it wont crash the game.

I am using the CirothUngol version. It was real simple to download and uncompress with .rar and play. It is truly awesome thank you everyone. I really only desire Alliance and before and I believe I have about 90 per cent now. Are there plans to finish those out? Also is there a better face maker software, then orginal is terrible. Thank you everyone!

don't get me wrong, now (I worked on MSCVP100 and DEP) it is like:

1. I unzip

(wow, looks like the older folder)
2. I run magic.exe :mrgreen:

(sit ludos incipiunt)
3. I try to run a duel -> game crashes :shock:

and this again & again (cur hoc est fieri mihi?)

sadly, this is so absolutely not "unzip -> ran magic.exe -> :mrgreen:

I'd suggest the game crashes because it can't find it's program files the way you have the folder structure set up.

The normal installation folder structure is: C:\Program Files\Magic\Program\

You have to remember this is an old 16-bit game it's somewhat fussy about where it expects to find it's program files.

AH AH AH ! Funny joke ! :lol:

And... NO!, it don't work at all.
When i click on magic.exe, error message is "magic.exe is not a valid win32 application" :roll:

I've uncompressed CirothUngol in a folder, and then copy-paste it in the good place.
The game is in :
c:\program files\magic\program
It's ok.
So I've installed C++, then it don't work again.

After that :
I try to parameter DEP, but it don't work again (on windows XP).

I uncompressed Gargaroz version in a folder.
I copy-paste Gargaroz on CirothUngol version (and remplace somes files).
I systematicly click on magic.reg
Now, it near to work.
Magic.exe launch but there is no words in the game (just only card images). 8-[

So I copy-paste CirothUngol on Gargaroz, and then... IT WORK ! [-o<

I play a lot, and after that, I shut down the game.

I click on magic.exe one hour after and then : "magic.exe is not a valid win32 application" #-o

I copy CirothUngol again and replace some files, it don't work again.
So, I just open the CirothUngol archive, and only copy-paste the magic.exe.
And now, it work again !!! :shock:

I just precise I didn't reboot in the process (I didn't wanted because I was using internet for something else). :mrgreen:

You should have, for some case the game work again when reboot is done.

It is not recommended to merge folders because it's more difficult to help you

if you run into the problem again it sounds like you have an antivirus program blocking your app. if you have something like avg antivirus then you should add it to the whitelist.
