Coin flip bug
by Megres » 10 Jun 2012, 10:16
From the last 2 patches I have encountered the following issue: when a game starts I don't get the coin flip animation, but the message "Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and filename".
Is there a file I could download to solve this problem, or something else I could do, aside from downloading all the game once again (something I would be glad to avoid if possibile)?
Thanks in advance.

If you use CirothUngol Magic folder you should have both the 2 small avi files in the DuelArt folder : Cointoss_Heads.avi and Cointoss_Tails.avi.
If you don't they should be available in the mediafire folder
If you don't they should be available in the mediafire folder

Which mediafire folder?
The last update (Avacyn), or what else?

Check the link in my signature.
Look in the ".\Manalink 3.0\Bare Install\" folder for "MtG_DotP_AllOther_AVI". That will contain any AVIs from the Microprose MtG CDs or Program Folder that aren't Tutorial or Shandalar videos (those are found in seperate archives in the same folder).
The Full MediaFire Download should contain all the AVIs needed by Manalink 3.0. Try grabbing that and see if it works... let us know if you still have issues.

Just installed the CirithUngol version myself (full version) and am not seeing the Coin flip either. The .avi files are where they need to be (even re-downloaded and overwrote them to make sure), but still no coin flip. Everything else works great though.

Do you have the flip coin animation option enabled? It's in Duel Mode > Duel Options > Show Coin flip animation.
You can also find this option when playing a duel, just right click on the battlefield and you will be able to select the Duel Options section.

It is enabled, yup. I've turned it off for now though, which solves my immediate problem (it was more annoying to wait for it to time out on its own).
Still, would be nice to get that working.

hmmm... that's odd.
Can you play the videos themselves? They use the MS-Video1 codec (MS-CRAM) which I find hard to believe isn't on your system (I think it was standard on Win95).
Perhaps it's a protection issue? Try running the game from a different (unprotected) drive\folder... or even on a different computer.
The files do work and the game will play them. I'm sure of this because I run the Full MediaFire version on three different windows systems when checking\troubleshooting (Win2Ksp4, WinXPsp3, and Win7x64sp1). If you discover the reason why they aren't currently working, be sure to let us know... it could really help others who have the same issue.

The videos do play in Media Player without issue, and I've installed this on my home PC and it works just peachy there as well.
Near as I can tell the folder isn't protected (it's just a user created folder on my Desktop). Going to try moving the folder to the root of C:, maybe it's a weird path issue.
