Do not download this , this is just for reference. Jatill has included a Version Switcher to his patches so you DO NOT NEED THIS.

Version Switcher 0.32

Description:

The Basic idea is to have two different patches (with completely different cards / artwork /decks) and beeing able to switch between these two with ease.
This is an attempt to work around the 2k card barrier.
Currently included: 20091014 (stable) and 20091019 (zen-full)



0.Will start the game
1.Applying patch1 , This is for the latest stable version
2.Applying patch2 , This is for the beta version of Project Zendikar
3.Exchanging the CardArt Folders (CardArtNormal with CardArtNew)
4.Exchanging the Deck Folders (Playdeck / PlaydeckNormal)

Installation:

1.download and unzip Version Changer 0.32
2.move the files into your game folder (C:\Magic) ->
C:\Magic\version switcher.bat
C:\Magic\CardArtNew
C:\Magic\CardArtNormal
C:\Magic\Playdeck
C:\Magic\PlaydeckNormal
C:\Magic\README VS.txt

3.adjust the version switcher.bat if your game folder is NOT located at C:\Magic .(otherwise you can skip this)
3a.rightclick -> edit "version switcher.bat"
3b.exchange C:\Magic with your gamefolder directory
4.fill CardArtNormal and PlaydeckNormal with the files you want to exchange
5.start version switcher.bat

Example of using this:

You want to use the Stable release as patch 1 to play Duels / Gauntlets /Challenges and use patch 2 to play Sealed Deck/Drafting with the complete Zendikar set.

So you are going to use the folders like this:
CardArtNew/Playdeck for the patch1
CardArtNormal/PlaydeckNormal for patch2

CardArtNew should stay untouched - this is where your artwork for patch1 should be.
Playdeck should stay untouched - this is where your decks for patch1 should be.
CardArtNormal : copy the images from CardArtNew into the folder, next download and extract the pictures from
:Artworkpatch Zendikar full into this folder aswell.
PlaydeckNormal : The Decks you want to use for patch2 (zendikar) should go in there.

If your gamefolder is at C:\Magic then you can just run the version switcher.bat now. otherwise you will have to edit the version switcher.bat using the notepads replace function "C:\Magic" to "X:\your gamefolder".

Now just start the start the version switcher and it will ask you what you want to do.

I did all steps to use the patch, but I can't start the program!

Copied all pics from CardArtNew, CardArtNew_ and CardArtNew2_2 (Zendikar) to their respective folders (CardArtNew and CardArtNormal) and the same for the decks.

The program always says that is missing "*.dll" files. So, I copied all *.dll files from the c:\magic\program to c:\magic, but still says that ManalinkEx.dll is missing. What is wrong with my installation? I'm using WIndows 7 32bit. (Sorry for my bad english )

P.S.:
Pics 0619.jpg and 1605.jpg in CardArtNew2_2 are the same. Is it correct?

you are supposed to install the basic game with these

CardArtNew_ and CardArtNew2_2

you are supposed to copy the images inside these folders into your CardArtNew folder.

make sure you get the game running first before you want to switch versions around.

The basic game works. And I can apply the updates (20091014 or 20091016) manually and play.

But the switcher (that was supposed to apply, and change, the updates to the basic game) is not working for me. Always says that "dll" files are missing!

What can I do to fix this?

i´m not using .dlls for this . its still just a simple .bat that is just moving files around // renaming folders.

made this for winxp - any chance you are using vista/win7 ?

i can add the dll files that come with the patches.

make sure you got your gamefolder set to C:\Magic and unzipped the files so that version switcher.bat and the folders are in C:\Magic .
if not you will have to edit the .bat replacing C:\Magic with "insert your gamefolder here".

"insert your gamefolder here" = the exact path of your gamefolder (where your magic.exe is, the switcher amd all the folders with it have to be in that folder aswell!)

Yes, I'm using win7 32bit.

The new switcher4 (0.31), isn't working for me yet!

Anyway, thanks for all . I'll install the game in two different folders, and switch between the updates manually.

updated zen patch to 20091019

you can update this manually by putting the latest zen patch (without the subfolders) into C:\Magic\Patch\Zendikar

The full zendikar art doesn't work for me, I only get about 10 images from it, all of wich were already in the game and some weren't even from zendikar.

the artwork for this will only be shown when you´ve patched to version 20091015 or higher (old cards where overwritten there) AND you´ve exchanged to the correct CardArt folder.

there are 2 cardart folders :

CardArtNew (this is what the game will use)
CardArtNormal (this one will get renamed to CardArtNew and will be used when you choose to exchange the Artwork folders.

so you have to patch to zendikar (!) then exchange(it actually just renames the 2 folders) the artwork.

this is going to be obsolete soon anyway since jatill wants to create a version switcher.
